No, we do not talk about the photographer,
but we are touching on an important
issue when capturing images from
a vertical position.
If the film or chip plane and the original
plane are not in an exactly parallel
position, then we will get perspective
distortions.
In any case you can check it using spirit
levels, but the Enk adjusting device
will really get it straight. Primarily designed
to align the camera when doing
shots of monitors, it finds another useful
application here. An LED is positioned
exactly in the center in front of an
SLR camera lens and a mirror on the
original plane. One look through the
viewfinder shows it all: If the LED and
its mirror image are not exactly matching,
you have to adjust the camera
or the object till you get them straight.

screen shots and repro photography.
