BOB BERRY. DR. A. E. SHEARER and SUZANNE HEARD
THE FRIENDSHIP FIRE
Reviving an old tradition this year, the student senate sponsored a Friendship Fire in November. Each organiza-
tion on campus chose its friendly boy and girl and then an election was held to choose the friendliest throughout
the whole campus. The night of the fire, representatives tossed the symbols of their groups into the fire. As the
circle marched around the fire, a drummer beat out the steady rhythm. After all the symbols had been thrown
into the flames, David Fad kenberry, president of the student senate, announced that Suzanne Heard and Bob
Berry had been selected as friendliest boy and girl. They escorted Dr. Shearer as he tossed in his lamp of leam-
ing as the final emblem. The fire was symbolic of the friendship and co-operation of groups on campus.
