After serving for many years as dean, Dr. A. E. Shearer became president of
Southeastern State College in the summer of 1952. Since thar time he has con­
tinually worked for the betterment ot the students and faculty alike.
Since his selection to this high position, two new buildings have been added to
the campus. The men's dormitory, completed in 1953, is named for our dis­
tinguished president. Last year marked the completion of the ultra-modern Health
and Physical Education building.
But far more significant than these additions to Southeastern's facilities is the
progress Dr. Shearer has made in the educational advancement of southeastern
Oklahoma. The high esteem of students and faculty alike are just reward for
this man who has devoted immeasurable time and effort in behalf of our college.
