The public service and legal advocacy projects
directed by HOPE, and led by its Fellows, Scholars,
and Leaders, highlight the noble qualities of the
human spirit and of the legal profession. When
prospective students hear of HOPE’s outstanding
work, they get inspired - I literally see a fire in them
to become outstanding advocates, to get involved,
to become contributors, to make a difference. My
ability to play even a small part in encouraging
them is exciting and rewarding.

H.O.P.E
The HOPE programs at UM Law are an excellent way
for students to gain an appreciation for the impor-
tance of pro-bono work in their legal careers while
also contributing in meaningful ways to the community.
To this day, I have continued my involvement with
the HOPE Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program
as it allows me to give back to my community and to
connect with the new generations of students who
show their concern for, and dedication to, helping
those who are less fortunate in society
