DEAN’S CIRCLE RECEPTION AND BOOK READING Stuart Z. Grossman, JD ’73, who helped underwrite the event, and Paul Levine, JD ’73, who read his book, “Illegal” during the reception. Minnette Massey, JD ‘51 The Dean’s Circle Reception was held in May 2009 at Book and Books in Coral Gables, and featured a book reading by alumnus Paul Levine. The event was hosted by the 2008- 2009 Dean’s Circle Committee and Stuart Z. Grossman, JD ’73. Paul Levine is the author <strong>of</strong> 13 novels, including the critically acclaimed Illegal, a tale <strong>of</strong> human trafficking on the Mexican border. Levine also wrote four novels featuring squabbling <strong>Miami</strong> trial lawyers Steve Solomon and Victoria Lord. As a screenwriter, he wrote 21 episodes <strong>of</strong> the CBS military series “JAG” and co-created and co-executive produced “First Monday,” a drama set at the Supreme Court, starring James Garner and Joe Mantegna. Levine graduated from the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Law</strong> in 1973, cum laude, and served on the team that won the national moot court championship. Before becoming a full-time writer, he practiced law in <strong>Miami</strong> for 17 years. 3
