The Dean’s Circle Reception was held in May<br />

2009 at Book and Books in Coral Gables, and<br />

featured a book reading by alumnus Paul<br />

Levine. The event was hosted by the 2008-<br />

2009 Dean’s Circle Committee and Stuart Z.<br />

Grossman, JD ’73.<br />

Paul Levine is the author <strong>of</strong> 13 novels, including<br />

the critically acclaimed Illegal, a tale <strong>of</strong><br />

human trafficking on the Mexican border.<br />

Levine also wrote four novels featuring squabbling<br />

<strong>Miami</strong> trial lawyers Steve Solomon and<br />

Victoria Lord. As a screenwriter, he wrote 21<br />

episodes <strong>of</strong> the CBS military series “JAG” and<br />

co-created and co-executive produced “First<br />

Monday,” a drama set at the Supreme Court,<br />

starring James Garner and Joe Mantegna.<br />

Levine graduated from the <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Law</strong> in<br />

1973, cum laude, and served on the team that<br />

won the national moot court championship.<br />

Before becoming a full-time writer, he practiced<br />

law in <strong>Miami</strong> for 17 years.<br />
