TAOC <strong>Handbook</strong><br />

Intelligence Displays. Intelligence displays are maintained by the<br />

squadron’s intelligence Marines and will include a depiction of<br />

the enemy ground order of battle, air order of battle, and missile<br />

order of battle. Intelligence Marines will also provide maps and<br />

status information on the friendly ground situation and scheme of<br />

maneuver, air assets by location, and missile locations for SAM<br />

units.<br />

Upon assumption of the Alt TACC role, certain communication<br />

nets not normally guarded by the SAAWC/TAOC must be activated.<br />

An exact delineation of nets the Alt TACC needs to guard<br />

is exercise/operation specific. However, certain nets are generic<br />

to any situation.<br />

<strong>Tactical</strong> <strong>Air</strong> Request/Helicopter Request (TAR/HR) Nets. These<br />

nets provide a means for forward ground combat elements to request<br />

immediate air support. Intermediate ground combat echelons<br />

monitor the net and may approve, disapprove, or modify the<br />

request. After the request has been filled, the DASC uses the net<br />

to brief the requesting agency on the details of the mission. Damage<br />

assessments are also passed. Other net participants include<br />

terminal controllers and the force fires coordination center<br />

(FFCC)/fire support coordination center (FSCC). The TAR net<br />

may be designated for use in either the HF or VHF spectrum.<br />

<strong>Tactical</strong> <strong>Air</strong> Direction (TAD) Nets. TAD nets provide a means<br />

for the direction of aircraft in the conduct of offensive air support<br />

missions and for the DASC to brief support aircraft on target<br />

information or assignment. Normally a VHF or UHF net,<br />

TAD nets are also monitored by terminal air controllers (e.g.,<br />

forward air controller [airborne] [FAC(A)], tactical air
