Uneven bars
Tradition, passion and know-how are the motors for the continuous
perfection of gymnastic apparatus
Gymnastic sports represent aesthetics, power, dynamics, mobility and precision.

For many decades SPIETH constantly works on the development of gymnastic
apparatus to provide athletes with the optimal conditions to reach the highest
performance level. Seemingly small details often make a big difference.

Balance beam
The balance beam is one of the most difficult gymnastics apparatuses in women’s
artistic gymnastics requiring great concentration and the highest training
frequency. Therefore along with the competition balance beams SPIETH has
developed a number of training balance beams with an extra soft top upholstery
aimed to reduce the peak forces during dismounts and landings. As a result a
training frequency with reduced impact on the joints can be achieved.
The balance beams from our “Vario” series, featuring a simple height adjustment
by means of a Servolift gas spring and a soft top upholstery, are the ideal training
apparatus available both in competition width of 10 cm and in special width of
20 cm for basic training purposes.

New balance beam with special soft upholstery and height adjustment by means
of Servolift system. The Servolift gas springs enable trainers and gymnasts to
adjust the balance beam’s base even easier.
This aluminium balance beam has a softer additional running surface under the
durable synthetic leather in comparison with traditional competition balance
beams. We have reached the optimal balance between the soft running surface
and the required stability, thus reducing stresses, minimizing the risk of injuries
and enabling to train more frequently.

Free exercise floor / Tumbling track
For the last 10 years the free exercise floor constructions have experienced
a great development progress along with the new requirements to artistic
gymnastics amongst others induced by the introduction of the new judging rules
(Code de Pointage).
A modern free exercise floor features a very high resilience and short reaction
time; these are the requirements to perform difficult elements. At the same time
an optimal shock absorption during landings should be achieved that to a great
extent prevents injuries and provides safety despite increasing loads. It’s a great
challenge for all manufacturers of the gymnastic apparatus to find the perfect
balance between these parameters.
With its new FIG certified free exercise floor “Berlin” SPIETH has managed to find
the perfect balance between the criteria of a modern free exercise floor.

Rings
Power and dynamics characterize the modern rings gymnastics
Especially when performing swings on rings the forces reach up to six fold the
body weight of a gymnast. Therefore it is extremely important to reduce the arising
peak forces. Having invented the adjustable cushioning modules and smooth rope
suspension SPIETH ensured the highest possible protection of joints.
Moreover in 2010 we have optimized the stability of the ring frame in order to

Rhythmic gymnastics
Rhythmic gymnastics is the most elegant discipline of the International
Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
The floors and carpets for rhythmic gymnastics made by SPIETH are world-wide
recognized and are used both in training centres and competitions all over the
world. The SPIETH RG floors were chosen for the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008
and Athens 2004 as well as for many World Championships.
The choice of gymnasts and coaches is determined by the dynamic base
construction combined with the high-quality antistatic velour carpet.

14 x 14 m floor with shock absorbing base construction consisting of 121 sections,
each 124 x 124 cm, and covering equalizing plates fixed together by means of
Velcro. Special foam elements provide superior shock absorption. Extremely
smooth, antistatic, top quality RG super velour carpet with great shearing
resistance ensures optimal training and competition conditions.
The scope of supply includes red tape to mark the competition area of 13 x 13 m
and double-sided glue tape to fix the RG carpet.

Aerobic gymnastics
Aerobics is the youngest gymnastics discipline within the FIG program.
The loads and requirements of an aerobic floor significantly vary from the floor
constructions for rhythmic or artistic gymnastics.
The construction of the aerobic floor was especially improved for the Aerobic
World Championships 2008 in Ulm, but first tested in action at the European
Championships 2007 in Szombathely. The absolutely positive feedback from the
athletes shown that SPIETH with its new model “ULM” succeeded to develop
an outstanding aerobic floor meeting the needs and requirements of the current
gymnasts. The important criteria for the aerobic floor are high elasticity and
resilience for the jumps and cushioning and shock absorption for the landing.

Official aerobic floor at the European Championships 2007 in Szombathely and the
World Championships 2008 in Ulm.
The SPIETH aerobic floor “Ulm” is an advanced development of the previous
aerobic floor and meets the highest requirements for high level competition and
training. The active spring force and cushioning are co-ordinated in such a way that
they provide superior shock absorption and extra wrist protection consequently.
The basic plates with spring elements are connected by means of flexible lamels
made of reinforced polypropylene ensuring an easy and quick installation. The
aerobic floor consists of 64 multi-layer high pressure glued wooden plates (each
150 x 150 cm) with a top layer developed especially for Aerobics. The construction
is held by tensioning belts preventing floor from shifting.

Individual planning of training and competition centres for Artistic
Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Acrobatics.
For many years SPIETH Gymnastic is considered to be the specialist for the
planning and equipping of training centres. With its extensive experience SPIETH
supports the organisations involved with advanced solutions from planning up to
realisation.
We consult federations, clubs, communities and architects. We not only design
new gyms and training centres, but advise on the modernisation of the existing
facilities as well.
Our experience is based on a large number of centres, which have been equipped
by our company, as well as on our permanent experience exchange with coaches
and gymnasts during national and international competitions.
The “Kunst-Turn-Forum“ (National Training Centre and Olympic Base in Stuttgart)
is one of the most modern training centres equipped by SPIETH. Together with
the Swabian Gymnastics Federation a training centre that by its conception ranks
among the best centres of artistic gymnastics worldwide has been constructed.
In that project the modern knowledge of applied training science has been put to
practice.

SPIETH Landing Pit Systems
During 30 years SPIETH has systematically developed the landing pits systems
adjusting their constructions to the requirements of modern gymnastics. Also
here the absolute priority of SPIETH is the safety of the athletes.
Open Landing Pit System (landing pit with foam cubes)
The open landing pit has a total height of 160 cm including the upholstered border
of 20 cm.
The base construction of the landing pit consists of 2 layers of special foam with a
total height of 50 cm.
The PVC separating net, which is flexibly fixed to the pit’s wall, separates the base
construction from the top and at the same time protects the foam cubes from
penetrating into the base.
To ensure the highest functionality, durability and safety SPIETH uses only highquality
foam with a very high breaking strength. Moreover, we use foam cubes of
different sizes in order to avoid compression and hardening of foam caused by a
permanent load.

Closed Landing Pit System
The closed landing pit has a total height of 60 cm including the upholstered border
of 20 cm.
The base construction of the closed landing pit consists of 2 layers of special foam
with a total height of 50 cm. The additional 10 cm foam layer is packed into a PVC
cover topped with durable canvas and covers the whole surface of the pit.
Due to the separated upper mat the long term costs are being reduced, since
the mat cover, when damaged in the areas of frequent landings, can be easily
replaced.
A Velcro band underneath the upper mat protects the upper foam layer from
displacement.
To optimize tear resistance the single canvas parts are double-sewed and
positioned in such a way that there are no seals in the critical landing areas.
The built-in PVC apron is connected between the soft mat and the underlying layer
by means of Velcro, providing additional protection when landing in a side zone.
