WRIGHT PROFESSIONAL PEAK FLOW METER
Manufactured by Ferraris Medical, U.K. for over 30 years, the
Wright Professional Peak Flow Meter has been recognized
internationally as the “gold standard” in peak flow measurement
devices. Designed by Dr. B.M. Wright of the Medical Research
Council of England, each Wright Professional Peak Flow Meter
is calibrated to the original master instrument.
Developed as a clinical device for use in hospitals, clinics and
physician offices, the Wright Professional Peak Flow Meter is
suitable for use with adults and children over 5 years of age
and will provide years of service under heavy use conditions.
The operating mechanism consists of a pivoted vane with
attached indicator, the rotation of which is opposed by air
resistance and a calibrated spring. During a patient’s forced
exhalation through the radial inlet, the vane/indicator rotates
until the maximum available flow is reached. The reading
indicated is the PEFR and is retained on the instrument until
released back to zero by the reset button.
The instrument case and handle are constructed of aluminum
and the handle retracts for storage. Two reusable mouthpieces
(adult and pediatric) and an extra filter wire are supplied with
the unit. These two items should be cleaned in soapy water and
rinsed between patients. Disposable adult plastic mouthpieces
are also available to facilitate multi-patient use. The instrument
itself should be sterilized by ETO (ethylene oxide) gas
sterilization on a regular basis. The Wright Professional Peak
Flow Meter carries a Full One Year Warranty for defects in
material and workmanship.
