Robberies<br />

block Breezewood Drive. Two<br />

males approximately 14 to 18<br />

years of age approached some<br />

people, produced a knife and<br />

demanded their property. No further<br />

descriptions are available.<br />

December 12, 10:37 p.m.,<br />

6100 block Breezewood Drive.<br />

A person was approached by<br />

three males, 16 to 18 years old,<br />

who produced a handgun and<br />

took the person’s money. No<br />

further descriptions are available.<br />

Burglaries<br />

December 16, 4:06 p.m., 5900<br />

block Cherrywood Terrace (TV<br />

was taken).<br />

December 17, 11:38 p.m.,<br />

6000 block Springhill Drive (stereo<br />

system and DVD player were<br />

taken).<br />

Vandalism<br />

December 14, 8:00 p.m., 200<br />

block Lakeside Drive (window<br />

was broken).<br />

Vehicle Crimes<br />

Seven vehicles were reported<br />

stolen. 6900 block Hanover<br />

Parkway (gray 1995 Jeep Cherokee<br />

with MD tags), 6200 block<br />

Springhill Court (gold 1994 Honda<br />

Accord with VA tags), 7500<br />

block Mandan Road (tan 1990<br />

Honda Accord with MD tags),<br />

Beltway Plaza Mall, two vehicles<br />

(white 1996 Honda Accord and<br />

gray 1999 Ford Crown Victoria,<br />

both with MD tags), 8100<br />

block Lakecrest Drive (gray 2000<br />

Dodge Stratus with MI tags),<br />

6900 block Hanover Parkway<br />

(green 2002 Dodge Caravan with<br />

MD tags).<br />

Four stolen vehicles were recovered.<br />

A gray 2001 Jeep Cher-<br />

okee with MD tags stolen from<br />

the 6900 block Hanover Parkway<br />

was recovered in the 8900 block<br />

Snow Acres Drive in Laurel<br />

with no arrests made. A gray<br />

1995 Jeep Cherokee with MD<br />

tags stolen from the 6900 block<br />

Hanover Parkway was recovered<br />

in the 1600 block Oakview Drive<br />

in Silver Spring with no arrests<br />

made. A gold 1994 Honda Accord<br />

with VA tags stolen from<br />

the 6200 block Springhill Court<br />

was recovered in the 6300 block<br />

Ivy Lane with no arrests made.<br />

A tan 1992 Nissan Maxima with<br />

MD tags both stolen from and recovered<br />

in the 9100 block Springhill<br />

Lane led to the arrest of a juvenile<br />

resident who was released<br />

to a parent pending action by the<br />

Department of Juvenile Services<br />

after being petitioned for theft<br />

over $1,000. There was an attempt<br />

to steal a vehicle in the<br />

6100 block Breezewood Drive.<br />

Several thefts from auto were<br />

reported. 5800 block Cherrywood<br />

Lane (MD tag), 6100 block<br />

<strong>Greenbelt</strong> Road (laptop), 6100<br />

block Breezewood Drive (GPS<br />

unit), 8000 block Mandan Road<br />

(money), 6200 block Springhill<br />

Drive (iPod ), 9000 block<br />

Breezewood Terrace (radio and<br />

headlights), 5700 block <strong>Greenbelt</strong><br />

Metro Drive (bag). There was an<br />

attempted theft from auto in the<br />

8000 block Mandan Road.<br />

Vandalism was reported in<br />

four locations. Car windows<br />

were broken in 5700 block<br />

<strong>Greenbelt</strong> Metro Drive, 9100<br />

block Springhill Lane and 5900<br />

block Cherrywood Terrace. Car<br />

tires were cut in the 9000 block<br />

Breezewood Terrace.<br />

MVA Announces<br />

Holiday Closings<br />

Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration<br />

(MVA) full service<br />

and express offices and all<br />

Vehicle Emissions Inspection<br />

Program stations will be closed<br />

from Christmas Eve Thursday,<br />

December 24 until Monday, December<br />

28 and from New Year’s<br />

Eve Thursday, December 21 until<br />

Monday, January 4. In addition<br />

to the holidays, these closings are<br />

to comply with the statewide budget<br />

reduction plan. Those with<br />

pressing business are reminded<br />

that the days before and after a<br />

holiday are especially busy and<br />

are encouraged to plan accordingly<br />

and/or use MVA online options<br />

if possible to complete their<br />

transactions.<br />

for more information. Electronic<br />

transactions can be made<br />

24 hours a day, seven days a<br />

week.<br />

The Department is offering<br />

a reward of up<br />

to $500 for information<br />

leading to the arrest and<br />

conviction of a suspect<br />

in any of the unsolved<br />

crimes reported in the<br />

blotter. People may<br />

anonymously report suspected<br />

drug activity by<br />

calling the Drug Tip Line<br />

at 301-507-6522.<br />

Heavy equipment was needed to clear massive piles of snow in order to restore some degree of normalcy<br />

to the community. <strong>Greenbelt</strong>ers are fortunate to have a Public Works staff that was on the snow<br />

removal job early. Several areas of the county are still waiting for plows to clear their streets.<br />
