experienced in designing fashion-forward, commercially successful womenswear. A versatile,<br />

flexible team player, having worked on an array of product categories for various fashion<br />

Work Experience<br />

Hilfiger Denim Womenswear Designer Dec ‘10 – Jul ‘12<br />

Responsible for Dresses, Skirts and Woven tops, role encompasses:<br />

* Researching trends through travelling on inspiration trips, internal sources, WGSN, trade<br />

fairs, comp shopping, extensive blog researching and keeping up on all that’s new in design<br />

and fashion.<br />

* Creating moodboards, interpreting new trends to suit the brand and developing seasonal<br />

concepts.<br />

* Sketching, creating mock-ups, and presenting ideas, communicating these to developers<br />

and merchandisers, as well as liasing with vendors on hand-over production trips to HK, India<br />

and Turkey, and fitting throughout development and production.<br />

* Sourcing and designing new fabrics and trims for development<br />

* Establishing a balanced range, making collection overviews.<br />

* Creating and recolouring graphics, allover prints, checks and stripes<br />

Previously responsible for the American Essentials and Quick Response lines, which cover<br />

the core range of margin-driven, high quality and detailed bestseller items, and the more<br />

fashion-forward capsule collection of catwalk inspired items with a shorter leadtime.<br />

Tommy Hilfiger Childrenswear Girlswear Designer Apr ’09 – Dec ‘10<br />

Responsible for all woven, knit and sweater dresses, skirts, woven tops, sweaters, knit<br />

bottoms and underwear for the award-winning girls childrenswear collection (age 1-16) and<br />

bringing them to the global market. Very hands-on role including writing concept reports and<br />

developing sales presentations and sales books.<br />

Co-designed the Newborn range and followed through to production. Previously<br />

responsible for the whole Toddler Girls range (age 1-7). This experience has provided a<br />

desire and ability to achieve the highest quality garments, while considering cost, and pushing<br />

for fresh, innovative styles and rich, new details and silhouettes that appeal to the consumer<br />

and compliment the brand image. The added constraints of designing within legal child safety<br />

regulations, and grading challenges were also met.<br />

Abercrombie & Fitch Womenswear Assistant Designer Oct ’07 – Oct ‘08<br />

Assistant Designer: Fleece, Bare and Non-bare Knit Tops, and Dresses. The role<br />

encompassed trend research, sketching, creating mock-ups, fitting, developing new fabrics<br />

and trims, and creating new, cool, sexy styles, with a great fit and luxuriously soft handfeel.<br />

Quality was of utmost importance, ensuring all colours and trims matched, and the correct<br />

wash achieved in order to create an effortless, loveworn look. The style of the collections<br />

possessed masculine-feminine tension which was a common thread that ran through all A&F<br />

products, though knit tops also provided an opportunity to work on the items that carried the<br />

majority of the femininity and fashion-forward element of the line. Implemented new details to<br />

subsequently creating bestsellers for one of the US’ leading youth brands.<br />

American Eagle Outfitters Womenswear Design Intern Jan ’06 – Jul ‘06<br />

6 month internship with womenswear cut & sew knit design team in NYC. Involved in all<br />

aspects including trend research, compshopping, sketching new styles, preparing for<br />

presentations and fashion shows, fittings and communicating with vendors.<br />

Mexx Womenswear Design Intern Jul ’05 – Nov ‘05<br />

4 Month internship with XX by Mexx Design Team as general design assistant for designers<br />

across all product categories, helping to identify and interpret trends to develop new ranges,<br />

as well as sketching new styles.<br />

Monique Collignon Couture Atelier Assistant Aug ’04 – Nov ‘05<br />

4 Month internship with Haute Couture designer in Amsterdam, fitting with clients,<br />

communicating their wishes to the designer in her absence, helping pattern cutting,<br />

producing/constructing/sewing trims and garments and assisting in the running of the Fall ‘04<br />

Fashion Show in Monaco.<br />

Education and Academic Qualifications<br />

BA ‘Product Design and Development for the Fashion Industry’: Bachelors Degree from<br />

London College of Fashion. Four year course, including one year of industrial placement,<br />

graduated July ‘07.<br />

3 A Levels: Art (A), Geography (B), Dutch (A) from The British School in the Netherlands<br />

2 A/S Levels: Spanish and Economics<br />

Skills<br />

Computer Skills: Adobe Creative Suite, Designer, Web PDM, NED Graphics, Microsoft<br />

Office.<br />

Languages: Fluent in English and Dutch, basic understanding of Spanish and French,<br />

completed ‘Introduction to Italian’ elective at LCF<br />

Extra: Dutch and American Drivers Licenses, organisational skills, sewing, and illustrating.<br />
