Valeria Mignaco and Alfonso Marin specialised on the voice-lute repertory during their studies<br />

at the conservatories of The Hague and Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and started their career as<br />

a professional duo soon after their graduation. Since then they have carried out an intense<br />

international concert activity.<br />

Awar<strong>de</strong>d with an honorific mention at the “Alte Musik Treff” Berlin 2005, they have performed<br />

extensively in The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, England, France and Germany. The have given<br />

concerts at prestigious festivals like the “Antonio <strong>de</strong> Cabezón Early Music Week” (Burgos, Spain),<br />

Leicester Early Music Festival (England), Midis-Minimes (Belgium), Music for Galway (Ireland)<br />

and Utrecht Early Music Festival (The Netherlands). Their first commercial CD with songs by John<br />

Dowland and his contemporaries will be released in Febraury 2009 by the label Musica Ficta.<br />

<strong>Alfred</strong> Fernán<strong>de</strong>z was born in 1970 in Barcelona, where he studied classical guitar with Jordi Codina,<br />

Manuel González y Fernando Rodríguez. Later on he specialized in the early plucked string instruments such<br />

as the lute, vihuela, baroque guitar, theorbo, etc. Formed mainly in a self-taught way, he has received<br />

guidance from prestigious masters such as William Waters, Rolf Lislevand, Paul O'<strong>de</strong>tte and John Griffiths.<br />

He has recor<strong>de</strong>d three solo CDs all of wich have been highly acclaimed by several specialized magazines such<br />

as Répertoire, Le Mon<strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong> la Musique, Gramophone, Goldberg, Scherzo, Ritmo, Lute Society Magazine, etc.<br />

His latest CD has been awar<strong>de</strong>d with the Répertoires 10R award and has been highly rated by many<br />

magazines. He has given solo concerts in Spain, The Netherlands, France, Germany, Brazil, United States,<br />

Belgium, Greece and Italy. Recently he gave a solo recital at the Utrecht Ou<strong>de</strong> Muziek Festival. He directs the<br />

ensemble Silva <strong>de</strong> Sirenas.
