Vote for Southpointe
Academy to win $500!
Voting for the BC Green Games winners is underway
until March 31!
Would you like to help Southpointe Academy win $500 and
celebrate students’ green projects? Until March 31, people
from all over British Columbia will be going online to vote in
the third annual Viewer’s Choice Awards for Science World’s BC Green Games.
The contest, with over $20,000 in prizes to be awarded to BC schools, celebrates
and shares environmental sustainability projects from BC’s students. Four of
these inspirational stewardship projects, submitted using creative media such as
videos or photo-essays, will receive $500 each in the Viewer’s Choice Awards.
Two prizes will go to elementary schools and two to secondary schools.
Another 20 winning projects will be decided on by a team of judges from across
BC that includes teachers, scientists, government members and business leaders.
The voting period runs from March 1-31 and all projects can be viewed at
www.bcgreengames.ca
The Grade 7 students of Southpointe Academy have worked hard in creating and
implementing their green initiatives. During the month of February, the classes
made videos that outlined their environmental projects. Although several high
quality videos and PowerPoint presentations were created by the students, only
two could be chosen to represent us on the website listed above. It was a difficult
choice and I would like to thank all the Grade 7 students for their hard work both
organizing these projects and creating their video presentations.
Thanks also to the Southpointe Academy community of parents, teachers, and
students for making the Grade 7 events a success so far. Stay tuned for more
environmental projects in the spring, and don’t forget to log on to the BC Green
Games to vote for Southpointe Academy!
