7. Healthcare
All family members are eligible for health services and need to register with a ‘surgery’. Children
under sixteen and pregnant women are eligible for free prescriptions. A maternity exemption
certificate can be issues by your GP upon request.
A. Hunter Street Health Clinic
(020 7530 4300; 8 Hunter Street; 5 min. walk North-west) provides a large number of services,
including well baby clinics, family planning, speech therapy, and free pregnancy tests. Check the
schedule in advance. It is best to get there early to avoid a long wait, as the clinic is often busy.
B. Holborn Medical Centre
(0844 477 1770 64 Lambs Conduit Street ; 5 min. walk south) Appointments are only necessary if
a doctor is required. Nurses and health visitors deal with routine checks, immunization and
general queries. Appointments are on a ‘same day’ basis – i.e. call around 08:50am or drop by on
the day you want an appointment.

E. Accident and Emergency Services
The nearest Casualty Unit is at University College Hospital. Do NOT take sick children to the
nearby Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital — they have no emergency facilities.
