I. General Introduction
William Goodenough House has two and three bedroom flats for post-graduate students with
children. There are on average 50 families and 75 children of various ages living here at any one
time.
The mandate of the College is to provide a residential community for post-graduates studying in
London. The overarching priority on College grounds is therefore deliberately academic. Typically
young children do not come immediately to mind as a way of enhancing such an environment, but
due to the wise direction of the College’s Trustees, students with families have been recognized
as a vital element of the unique atmosphere that makes Goodenough College such a remarkable
success. Goodenough College is indeed a place like no other.
From Parents Club Presidents
Welcome to Goodenough College, your new home in London. We trust that you will find
Goodenough to be a friendly and enjoyable place to live amongst families from around the globe.
There is a wide range of activities here for both you and your children, and we would encourage
you to take part in community life as much as possible.
This book is a collection of information and wisdom gained from the experiences of your
predecessors living at the college. Hopefully you will find it of use as you settle into life in
Mecklenburgh Square. Further information is also available from the Goodenough Members
website (http://members.goodenough.ac.uk), especially the Parents Club section.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak with us - or any other parent in the
college.
Best wishes,
