12. WAR DEPARTMENT LUtiRICATION ORDERS.
(WDLO) (List in par. 34). a. General. War De-
partment Lubrication Orders ( WDLO’s) are serially-
numbered and dated cards or decakomania labels
which prescribe approved first and second echelon
lubrication instructions for mechanical equipment
issued by, ‘the Army Service Forces. They will be
carried with or attached to,the equipment to which
they. pertain. Instructions contained therein are
mandatory to using troops and supersede all conk
flitting lubrication instructions of prior date. Unit
commanders are responsible for obtaining, install-
ing, and fully complying with ail current WDLO’q
that are applicable to equipment within their com-
mands. Difficulties experienced in the performance
of these responsibilities will be reported through
technical channels to the Commanding General,
Army Serqice Forces, Attention : Maintenance Di-
vision. See Paragraph 34 for complete list of WDLO’s
that are available for issue, and follow requisition-
ing instructionsin Paragraphs l2b, 12c, and 23.
b. Old-Style Lubrication Orders. Old-style WDLO’s
are classed-as equipment accessories and are manu-
fabtured, stocked and issued by each of the seven
technical services of Army Service Forces. Their
physical form may be either a 10 x 15 inch steel-
bound waterproofed card, or a temporary-type card-
board, or a decalcomania transfer label. Those old-
styie WDLO’s that are listed in Paragraph 34 may
be‘ readily identified, and the responsible technical
service determined, by referring their serial num-
hers to the following table. Examples of old-style
serial numbers: 151, 1026, 3040, 6001, 6009, ‘7003.
Old-style lubrication orders are not usually issued
automatically and must be, requisitioned from the
technical service depots shown in the table. Informal
letters that list the serial number, issue date, and
quantity desired will be honored by issuing agencies.
Although old-style lubrication orders will be super-
seded as rapidly as possible by the new-style de-
scribed in Paragraph 12b, the former should con-
tinue to be requested and used until the new-style
replacements are received or are listed in Paragraph
34.
c. New ‘- .Style Lubrication Orders. New - style
WDLQ’s are classed ,as expendable publications
which are prepared by the responsible technical services,
but are published and automatically distributed
by The Adjutant General. Their physical form will
be either a simple card or a decalcomania transfer
label. Those new-style WDLO’s that are listed in
Paragraph 34 may be readily identified by means
of their distinctive serial numbers which are pre
ceded by the ‘letters “LO” and which not only identify
the preparing service (See Paragraph 13a) but
usually correspond to the number of the corresponding
technical manuals. Examples of new-style serial
numbers : LO 9-772, LO 5-3112, LO 3-626, LO 8-629.
Since automatic distribution can never be complete, j
necessary additional quantities of new-style WDLO’s :
should be. requisitioned
graph 23.
in conformance with Parac
d. Since new and old-style WDLO’s are furnished
by separate agencies, no requisition should contain
requests for both types.
