The search is on for the prestigious Germany Travel Writers’ Awards
London, 10 th August 2011 – The German National Tourist Office (GNTO)
has just begun this year’s search for the winners of the prestigious
Germany Travel Writers’ Awards.
For more than 20 years the GNTO has been celebrating the media
coverage of Germany as a travel destination together with media
representatives at its annual press lunch, the highlight being the award
ceremony for the best articles that have been published within UK and
Ireland.
Last year’s Travel Writers’ Awards had a big surprise, the press lunch
ended with two winners: Adrian Bridge was celebrated for his article
“Coming up for air in the city of heroes”, published in the Daily Telegraph in
October 2009 and Mike Parker received the Travel Writers’ Award for “Bloc
to the future”, published in the Lonely Planet Magazine in January 2010.
Both winners received a signed GNTO certificate and were able to enjoy a
weekend in Frankfurt. In addition, CARA Magazine was awarded with the
media trophy for their overall support of Germany as a travel destination.
This year’s Germany Travel Writers’ Awards will again have amazing prizes
for the winners. Up until 15 th September journalists can enter by simply
sending in their Germany articles via e-mail to lon.office4@germany.travel.
The only conditions for entering are that the article must have been
published by the date of entry in either UK or Ireland media and it has to
feature Germany as a travel destination. The ten best entries will be short-
listed and an independent jury will select the winner.
