Escort wagons and vans also attracted the attention of specialist coachbuilders like Dormobile and Canterbury in the UK who transformed them into caravan conversions. In 1968 Ford had its first cinematic encounter with 007, when Escorts were used in an ice race in ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,’ starring George Lazenby in his only appearance as James Bond with Diana Rigg as the love interest. By 1972 Escort customers could choose from a range of 19 models with prices in the UK starting as low as £853 and in the same year, Halewood produced its 200,000th model.
