COMMUNITIES IN BLOOM<br />
<strong>Preeceville</strong> has joined the Saskatchewan Communities<br />
in Bloom program under the “Competitive” category for<br />
<strong>2010</strong>. This year the flower theme and colours are<br />
rainbow colours. More individuals from the community<br />
are needed to look after flower beds. As little as <strong>on</strong>e<br />
flower bed helps! If you are interested in volunteering<br />
some time this summer, c<strong>on</strong>tact Maureen at 547-3118.<br />
OLD HOME WEEK<br />
Old Home Week will be taking place from Sunday July<br />
11 th to Sunday July 18 th , <strong>2010</strong>, with various events<br />
taking place throughout the week. If any organizati<strong>on</strong> is<br />

PREECEVILLE HERITAGE MUSEUM OPENING<br />
The Museum will be opening for the seas<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> May<br />
22 nd, <strong>2010</strong>. Drop in from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm every<br />
Tuesday to Saturday or from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm <strong>on</strong><br />

PREECEVILLE’S BIGGEST LOSER ANNOUNCED!<br />
The Biggest Loser Weight Loss competiti<strong>on</strong> has come<br />
to a close, with participants happy to end the three<br />
m<strong>on</strong>th program. The 53 participants lost a total <strong>of</strong> 738<br />
lbs! The winner <strong>of</strong> the individual prize was Cherilyn<br />
Tuz, and winning team was the Clinical Reducti<strong>on</strong><br />
Team. Thank You to all participants who made this<br />
competiti<strong>on</strong> light-hearted, fun, and a success for all!<br />
MINOR BALL AND SLO PITCH<br />
Minor Ball has started up for the seas<strong>on</strong> with many<br />
games scheduled, al<strong>on</strong>g with T-Ball and Rookie Ball<br />
practices throughout the week. Slo Pitch has another<br />
successful sign up with 12 teams registered from<br />
various communities. Stop by any evening to catch a<br />

SUMMER SOLSTICE KICKOFF<br />
The <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Preeceville</strong> has proclaimed June as<br />
Recreati<strong>on</strong> and Parks M<strong>on</strong>th. This is a great time to<br />
recognize the recreati<strong>on</strong>al opportunities we have in our<br />
community. To celebrate this proclamati<strong>on</strong> and the start<br />
<strong>of</strong> summer, the <strong>Preeceville</strong> Rec Board will be hosting<br />
“Summer Solstice Kick<strong>of</strong>f” <strong>on</strong> June 18 th at Annie Laurie<br />
Beach and Wildlife Campground. From 6:00 pm – 8:00<br />
pm join us at the beach for drop in volleyball and sand<br />
sculpting, then walk up to the Wildlife Campground for a<br />
hotdog roast and outdoor movie! The best part…it is<br />
FREE! Event subject to weather c<strong>on</strong>diti<strong>on</strong>s. Watch for<br />

TOURIST BOOTH OPENING<br />
The senior volunteers in the community have <strong>on</strong>ce<br />
again stepped up and volunteered their time to operate<br />
the tourist booth this year. The tourist booth will be<br />
open M<strong>on</strong>day to Saturday beginning June 14 th and will<br />
run between the hours <strong>of</strong> 10:00 am – 12:30 pm and<br />
1:30 pm - 4:00 pm. If you are interested in volunteering,<br />
call Elaine at 547-2810.<br />
SWIMMING PROGRAM<br />
The <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Preeceville</strong> has received grant funding to<br />
hold the <strong>2010</strong> Swimming Less<strong>on</strong> Program at Annie<br />
Laurie Beach. We are currently looking for a qualified<br />
swimming instructor to instruct the less<strong>on</strong>s. Any<strong>on</strong>e<br />
interested in the positi<strong>on</strong> please call the <strong>Town</strong> Office at<br />

less<strong>on</strong> dates.<br />
WESTERN WEEKEND<br />
The Li<strong>on</strong>s Western Weekend will be held from Friday,<br />
July 16 th to Sunday, July 18 th . Many events will be<br />
taking place throughout the weekend for all ages.<br />
Events such as chuckwag<strong>on</strong> races, chariot races,<br />
gymkana, senior slo pitch tounament, co-ed slo pitch<br />
tournament, men’s fast ball tournament as well as an<br />
open air dance. There will also be a Western Style<br />
Penny Carnival taking place <strong>on</strong> Saturday, July 17 th for<br />
children <strong>of</strong> all ages. Some games include a ball toss,<br />
horseshoe toss as well as other western themed<br />

CAN AM BOWLXIV<br />
The <strong>Preeceville</strong> Panther Football Club and the<br />
community <strong>of</strong> <strong>Preeceville</strong> have been awarded the right<br />
to host the <strong>2010</strong> CanAm Bowl <strong>on</strong> July 3 rd , <strong>2010</strong>. The<br />
CanAm Bowl is an annual All-Star football game played<br />
between graduated All-Star players from the United<br />
States and Canada. <strong>Preeceville</strong> will be hosting the best<br />
6 man football players from Saskatchewan, Alberta and<br />
from all over the United States <strong>of</strong> America. The CanAm<br />
Bowl is nearly a week l<strong>on</strong>g event, including practices for<br />
both Team Canada and USA, extracurricular activities<br />
for the players, awards banquet, and the game itself.<br />
The CanAm Bowl Committee is encouraging those in<br />
our community and surrounding area to show their<br />
Canadian Pride by attending the CanAm Bowl <strong>on</strong> July<br />
3 rd at 1:00 pm at the <strong>Preeceville</strong> School to cheer <strong>on</strong> our<br />
team! Team Canada would like it to be a “Red Out”<br />
afterno<strong>on</strong>, where all Canadian fans wear Red to show<br />
their support. Adult tickets are $5.00 and students and<br />

PREECEVILLE SENIOR CLUB 60<br />
“Club 60” is open to any<strong>on</strong>e age 55+. The Annual<br />
picnic will be held at the Sports Grounds <strong>on</strong> June 9 th ,<br />
weather permitting. Entry fee is $5.00 per senior. Pot<br />
luck lunch at no<strong>on</strong>, with games and wiener roast to<br />

WELCOME BACK<br />
The <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Preeceville</strong> would like to welcome Rodney<br />

ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES<br />
It is illegal to operate any unlicensed vehicle such as<br />
ATV’s <strong>on</strong> public property and <strong>on</strong> private property without<br />
the owner’s permissi<strong>on</strong>. Public property includes the<br />
<strong>Town</strong> Air Strip, vacant lots, ditches, streets, <strong>back</strong> alleys<br />
and parks. If you see some<strong>on</strong>e violating these rules<br />

GARBAGE PICK UP<br />
Please be reminded that as <strong>of</strong> May 1 st , <strong>2010</strong> any<strong>on</strong>e<br />
who regularly moves their garbage from the fr<strong>on</strong>t to the<br />
<strong>back</strong> alley for pick up is required to do so until October<br />
31 st , <strong>2010</strong> regardless <strong>of</strong> the amount <strong>of</strong> snow we have<br />
received. This change will take effect at these times<br />
each year.<br />
SWEEP PROGRAM EXPANDED<br />
The Saskatchewan Waste Electr<strong>on</strong>ic Equipment<br />
Program is expanding the list <strong>of</strong> products that can be<br />
recycled at SARCAN. As <strong>of</strong> April 1 st , <strong>2010</strong>, audio/visual<br />
equipment such as VCR’s, DVD’s, stereos, cameras<br />
and ph<strong>on</strong>es, can be recycled. If you would like a full list<br />

ELM TREE PRUNING BAN<br />
A reminder that the Elm tree pruning ban began <strong>on</strong> April<br />
1 st and will c<strong>on</strong>tinue through to August 31 st, as it does<br />
each year to prevent the spread <strong>of</strong> Dutch Elm disease.<br />
During this time, no pruning or removing <strong>of</strong> Elm trees is<br />

FIRE PIT INSPECTIONS<br />
If you are interested in having an open air fire pit in your<br />
yard this summer, remember that as set out in Bylaw<br />
No.9 – 2004, it is required <strong>of</strong> all citizens to get new fire<br />
pits inspected by the <strong>Preeceville</strong> Volunteer Fire<br />

FIREWORKS PERMIT<br />
With summer holiday activities and the many summer<br />
l<strong>on</strong>g weekend celebrati<strong>on</strong>s being planned, please be<br />
reminded that to display fireworks in town, a permit is<br />
required. The permits are issued by the <strong>Preeceville</strong><br />
Volunteer Fire Department and are used to ensure<br />
fireworks are used in a safe locati<strong>on</strong> where no fires <str<strong>on</strong>g>may</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

PREECEVILLE CEMETERY CLEAN UP<br />
Please be advised that the <strong>Preeceville</strong> Cemetery<br />
Committee will be cleaning and landscaping the<br />
<strong>Preeceville</strong> Cemetery. In order to properly landscape<br />
and clean the <strong>Preeceville</strong> Cemetery, all flowers, solar<br />
power decorative lighting etc. that are not attached to<br />
the m<strong>on</strong>uments will be removed. Also, any shrubs or<br />
plants which will interfere will grass cutting will also be<br />
removed, as well as all cribbing and/or cement grave<br />
covers. Any<strong>on</strong>e wishing to d<strong>on</strong>ate toward this project<br />

DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP<br />
The <strong>Preeceville</strong> Medical Clinic in c<strong>on</strong>juncti<strong>on</strong> with the<br />
<strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Preeceville</strong> are forming a support group for<br />
people with diabetes and are looking for participants. If<br />

ECO CENTRE NOW OPEN<br />
The Eco Centre is now open for the <strong>2010</strong> seas<strong>on</strong>. The<br />
Eco Centre will be open from 8:00 am – 12:00 no<strong>on</strong><br />
every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. You<br />
can drop <strong>of</strong>f all <strong>of</strong> your used oil, oil filters and c<strong>on</strong>tainers<br />
free <strong>of</strong> charge. Think <strong>of</strong> it as your “green” c<strong>on</strong>tributi<strong>on</strong><br />
to our envir<strong>on</strong>ment!<br />
BEING PROACTIVE IN YOUR COMMUNITY<br />

123 CARE FOR ME CHILD CARE INC.<br />
Registrati<strong>on</strong> is now being accepted for preschool age<br />
children. Any child registered for full-time or part-time<br />
care and utilizing the temporary locati<strong>on</strong> is guaranteed<br />
their spot in the permanent facility. Once the daycare<br />
locates to the permanent facility, which is expected for<br />
November <strong>2010</strong>, 123 Care for Me will be licensed for<br />
the following spaces; 6 infant, 6 weeks–18 m<strong>on</strong>ths, 10<br />
toddler, 18 m<strong>on</strong>ths–30 m<strong>on</strong>ths, 15 preschool; 30<br />
