COMMUNITIES IN BLOOM
Preeceville has joined the Saskatchewan Communities
in Bloom program under the “Competitive” category for
2010. This year the flower theme and colours are
rainbow colours. More individuals from the community
are needed to look after flower beds. As little as one
flower bed helps! If you are interested in volunteering
some time this summer, contact Maureen at 547-3118.
OLD HOME WEEK
Old Home Week will be taking place from Sunday July
11 th to Sunday July 18 th , 2010, with various events
taking place throughout the week. If any organization is
interested in hosting a small event during the week
leading up to Western Weekend, please feel free to

PREECEVILLE HERITAGE MUSEUM OPENING
The Museum will be opening for the season on May
22 nd, 2010. Drop in from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm every
Tuesday to Saturday or from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm on
Sundays. To book a group tour call 547-2774.
PREECEVILLE’S BIGGEST LOSER ANNOUNCED!
The Biggest Loser Weight Loss competition has come
to a close, with participants happy to end the three
month program. The 53 participants lost a total of 738
lbs! The winner of the individual prize was Cherilyn
Tuz, and winning team was the Clinical Reduction
Team. Thank You to all participants who made this
competition light-hearted, fun, and a success for all!
MINOR BALL AND SLO PITCH
Minor Ball has started up for the season with many
games scheduled, along with T-Ball and Rookie Ball
practices throughout the week. Slo Pitch has another
successful sign up with 12 teams registered from
various communities. Stop by any evening to catch a
game! You can also check out the Town of Preeceville

SUMMER SOLSTICE KICKOFF
The Town of Preeceville has proclaimed June as
Recreation and Parks Month. This is a great time to
recognize the recreational opportunities we have in our
community. To celebrate this proclamation and the start
of summer, the Preeceville Rec Board will be hosting
“Summer Solstice Kickoff” on June 18 th at Annie Laurie
Beach and Wildlife Campground. From 6:00 pm – 8:00
pm join us at the beach for drop in volleyball and sand
sculpting, then walk up to the Wildlife Campground for a
hotdog roast and outdoor movie! The best part…it is
FREE! Event subject to weather conditions. Watch for
posters!

Sask Lotto 2010 Applications will be accepted until June

TOURIST BOOTH OPENING
The senior volunteers in the community have once
again stepped up and volunteered their time to operate
the tourist booth this year. The tourist booth will be
open Monday to Saturday beginning June 14 th and will
run between the hours of 10:00 am – 12:30 pm and
1:30 pm - 4:00 pm. If you are interested in volunteering,
call Elaine at 547-2810.
SWIMMING PROGRAM
The Town of Preeceville has received grant funding to
hold the 2010 Swimming Lesson Program at Annie
Laurie Beach. We are currently looking for a qualified
swimming instructor to instruct the lessons. Anyone
interested in the position please call the Town Office at
547-2810. Watch for posters and newspaper ads for
lesson dates.
WESTERN WEEKEND
The Lions Western Weekend will be held from Friday,
July 16 th to Sunday, July 18 th . Many events will be
taking place throughout the weekend for all ages.
Events such as chuckwagon races, chariot races,
gymkana, senior slo pitch tounament, co-ed slo pitch
tournament, men’s fast ball tournament as well as an
open air dance. There will also be a Western Style
Penny Carnival taking place on Saturday, July 17 th for
children of all ages. Some games include a ball toss,
horseshoe toss as well as other western themed

CAN AM BOWLXIV
The Preeceville Panther Football Club and the
community of Preeceville have been awarded the right
to host the 2010 CanAm Bowl on July 3 rd , 2010. The
CanAm Bowl is an annual All-Star football game played
between graduated All-Star players from the United
States and Canada. Preeceville will be hosting the best
6 man football players from Saskatchewan, Alberta and
from all over the United States of America. The CanAm
Bowl is nearly a week long event, including practices for
both Team Canada and USA, extracurricular activities
for the players, awards banquet, and the game itself.
The CanAm Bowl Committee is encouraging those in
our community and surrounding area to show their
Canadian Pride by attending the CanAm Bowl on July
3 rd at 1:00 pm at the Preeceville School to cheer on our
team! Team Canada would like it to be a “Red Out”
afternoon, where all Canadian fans wear Red to show
their support. Adult tickets are $5.00 and students and
children are $3.00. If you would like more information

PREECEVILLE SENIOR CLUB 60
“Club 60” is open to anyone age 55+. The Annual
picnic will be held at the Sports Grounds on June 9 th ,
weather permitting. Entry fee is $5.00 per senior. Pot
luck lunch at noon, with games and wiener roast to
follow. For more information on this event or other
monthly activities of “Club 60” such as senior birthday
parties and pot luck dinners, call Arda at 547-2137.

The Town Office will be closed from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00
p.m., along with the Town Shop from 7:00 a.m. – 4:00
p.m., on Monday May 24 th , 2010 for Victoria Day.

WELCOME BACK
The Town of Preeceville would like to welcome Rodney
Daschuk back to the Town Shop in the now permanent
position of Seasonal Labourer. Town Council and Staff
are looking forward to working with Rodney again over
the summer months.
ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES
It is illegal to operate any unlicensed vehicle such as
ATV’s on public property and on private property without
the owner’s permission. Public property includes the
Town Air Strip, vacant lots, ditches, streets, back alleys
and parks. If you see someone violating these rules
please contact the RCMP at (306) 548-6250 or (306)
563-4700.
GARBAGE PICK UP
Please be reminded that as of May 1 st , 2010 anyone
who regularly moves their garbage from the front to the
back alley for pick up is required to do so until October
31 st , 2010 regardless of the amount of snow we have
received. This change will take effect at these times
each year.
SWEEP PROGRAM EXPANDED
The Saskatchewan Waste Electronic Equipment
Program is expanding the list of products that can be
recycled at SARCAN. As of April 1 st , 2010, audio/visual
equipment such as VCR’s, DVD’s, stereos, cameras
and phones, can be recycled. If you would like a full list
of recyclable products visit www.sweepit.ca.
ELM TREE PRUNING BAN
A reminder that the Elm tree pruning ban began on April
1 st and will continue through to August 31 st, as it does
each year to prevent the spread of Dutch Elm disease.
During this time, no pruning or removing of Elm trees is
permitted within Saskatchewan. For more information
on Dutch Elm Disease Control Regulations, contact 1-

FIRE PIT INSPECTIONS
If you are interested in having an open air fire pit in your
yard this summer, remember that as set out in Bylaw
No.9 – 2004, it is required of all citizens to get new fire
pits inspected by the Preeceville Volunteer Fire
Department. To book your inspection, call the Town
Office at 547-2810.
FIREWORKS PERMIT
With summer holiday activities and the many summer
long weekend celebrations being planned, please be
reminded that to display fireworks in town, a permit is
required. The permits are issued by the Preeceville
Volunteer Fire Department and are used to ensure
fireworks are used in a safe location where no fires <strong>may</strong>

PREECEVILLE CEMETERY CLEAN UP
Please be advised that the Preeceville Cemetery
Committee will be cleaning and landscaping the
Preeceville Cemetery. In order to properly landscape
and clean the Preeceville Cemetery, all flowers, solar
power decorative lighting etc. that are not attached to
the monuments will be removed. Also, any shrubs or
plants which will interfere will grass cutting will also be
removed, as well as all cribbing and/or cement grave
covers. Anyone wishing to donate toward this project
<strong>may</strong> contact Marlene Chopty at 547-2835 or Brian Myhr
at 547-2071.
DIABETES SUPPORT GROUP
The Preeceville Medical Clinic in conjunction with the
Town of Preeceville are forming a support group for
people with diabetes and are looking for participants. If
you are interested or would like more information please
call Dana at 547-2810.
ECO CENTRE NOW OPEN
The Eco Centre is now open for the 2010 season. The
Eco Centre will be open from 8:00 am – 12:00 noon
every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. You
can drop off all of your used oil, oil filters and containers
free of charge. Think of it as your “green” contribution
to our environment!
BEING PROACTIVE IN YOUR COMMUNITY
Help keep the community clean and welcoming! Be a
proactive citizen and report vandalism to the police
when you see it happening or if you come across
previously vandalized property. Every bit of help from
the community members helps keep the community
looking fresh! Also, if you are interested in becoming a
member of the Citizens on Patrol program, please call

123 CARE FOR ME CHILD CARE INC.
Registration is now being accepted for preschool age
children. Any child registered for full-time or part-time
care and utilizing the temporary location is guaranteed
their spot in the permanent facility. Once the daycare
locates to the permanent facility, which is expected for
November 2010, 123 Care for Me will be licensed for
the following spaces; 6 infant, 6 weeks–18 months, 10
toddler, 18 months–30 months, 15 preschool; 30
months-kindergarten, and 5 school age; grade 1-12
years of age. Current hours are Monday-Friday from
