every situation is, “Am I willing to settle for ‘good enough?’” If not,
you might want to change your approach.
Personal excellence is not about being a perfectionist but rather
doing your best: to surpass people’s expectations and may be even
your own, to do justice to your talents and abilities and to excel in
everything that you do. Many people around the world work hard,
but are never able to feel fully content with their lives. However,
those who do strive for personal excellence are not only able to feel
happy and satisfied with themselves and what they have achieved,
but they are also able to make a big impact on others as well. Personal
excellence is thus a principle, and it encompasses all good qualities,
but the only difference is that if you strive for excellence, you are
able to utilize such qualities at a level that is above the standards.
Many people are now beginning to realize the power of SELF
and are focusing on themselves in this increasingly complex and
dynamic world. While simple as a concept, good direction and
assistance on achieving personal excellence is hard to come by. Many
institution / organizations are working to bridge this gap. One such
institution is the ‘Xavier institute of Leadership’ which is conducting
personal excellence workshops to enable individuals to excel

In summation: the important thing is to COMMIT to excellence
with whatever you do. Don’t clean your house because you “have to’.
Clean it out as if a neat house was of utmost importance in the grand
scheme of things. Clean it out as if you would rather be doing nothing
else in the world. Here’s some good advice for us from the Founder
of IBM. Thomas J. Waston (1874-1956), “If you want to achieve
excellence, you can get there today. As of this second, quit doing

����� A popular motivational speaker was entertaining his
audience.
He Said: “The best years of my life were spent in the arms of a
woman who wasn’t my wife!” The audience was in silence and shock.
The speaker added: “And that woman was my mother!”

A week later, a top manager trained by the motivational speaker
tried to crack this very effective joke at home. He was a bit foggy
after a drink. He said loudly to his wife who was preparing dinner,
“The greatest years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who
was not my wife!”
The wife went; “ah!” with shock and rage.
Standing there for 20 seconds trying to recall the second half of
the joke, the manager finally blurted out “....and I can’t remember
who she was!”
By the time the manager regained his consciousness, he was on

Holy Father talked about his visit to Milan for the Seventh
World Meeting of Families, on the theme: “The Family: Work
and Celebration”. At the Audience the Pope called the
Ambrosian Archdiocese “a city of families”.

their ad limina visit the Pope spoke to the Bishops’
Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands on
evangelizing the family.
