<strong>December</strong> <strong>2012</strong> <strong>Vigil</strong><br />
Salutations and warm greetings to the populace of the <strong>Middle</strong> Marches! We hope that this<br />
missive finds you healthy and happy as <strong>2012</strong> comes to an end. As you may or may not know Marcus and<br />
I, Eilis the Stone, are the newly invested Baron and Baroness as of Red Dragon <strong>2012</strong>. Since the beginning<br />
of October, it has been Marcus and I’s main goal to reach out and introduce ourselves to the various<br />
shires and cantons in the <strong>Middle</strong> Marches. What we have found to be most impressive is the constant<br />
flow of ideas, energy, and service to not only the individual shires, but to the barony, and even up to the<br />
mighty Dragon Throne. It is so invigorating to see our Barony alive with such passion. That passion along<br />
with the drive to serve is what makes this barony so great, from clothing a new member to participating<br />
in the <strong>Kingdom</strong>-wide scribal challenge, our barony has truly come “to the fore”.<br />
As the New Year arrives many exciting things will be coming to our Barony. On January 19 th ,<br />
2013, Baronial 12 th Night will be held at the Hilliard Presbyterian Church. This day, with the help of Lord<br />
Malachai, promises to be filled with good times, good cheer, and good people with some potential<br />
Yuletide surprises. There will be a Baronial officers’ introduction ceremony, the stepping up of the new<br />
Baronial Champions, and much, much more. I hope that you will be able to join us, especially as we bring<br />
in the “New Year” with our very first Baronial Court. May your holidays be full of love and cheer!<br />

Awarded to children of the Barony who show great dedication and participation to the society.<br />
It is generally awarded to children ages 16 or under. It may only be received once.<br />
Dilan's Challenge<br />
This award will be given out to every individual who completes a challenge as outlined by the<br />
Baron. It can be received once for each successful completion of the Baron's Challenge. Only to be<br />
awarded by the Baron.<br />
Watchful Tower<br />
Golden Affodil<br />
Awarded for outstanding Service for and within the Barony. It may be received more than once.<br />
Awarded for demonstrating great Chivalry on or off the field. It may only be received once.<br />
Only to be awarded by the Baroness.<br />
Gilded Reed

Barony of <strong>Middle</strong> Marches<br />
<strong>December</strong> <strong>2012</strong> <strong>Vigil</strong><br />
Awarded for outstanding skill in the Arts and Sciences. Individuals are eligible for this award<br />
once for each discipline (once for scribal arts, once for textiles, once for metal work, etc.).<br />
Warden of the Marche<br />
Awarded for outstanding skill in one or more of the Martial Arts (rattan, fencing, archery,<br />
equestrian, and thrown weapons). Individuals are eligible for this award once for each discipline (once<br />
for fencing, once for archery, etc.).<br />
Shepherd of the Marche<br />
A special recognition for individuals who have shown long and exemplary Service, participation<br />
and dedication to the Barony. It may only be received once.<br />
Titan of the Marche<br />
This Order is awarded for Long-term and Exemplary Service to the Barony in the Martial Arts<br />
through either teaching or personal combat. It may only be received once.<br />
Pillar of the Marche<br />
This Order is awarded for Long-term and Exemplary Service to the Barony in areas including but<br />
not limited to Arts and Sciences, teaching, Offices Held, and general helpfulness. It may only be received<br />
once.<br />
