A new year and a new decade are dawning for our world, our country, our state, our<br />
county, and <strong>CASA</strong> <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong>. It fills me with hope and optimism to anticipate the<br />
clean slate we have to write upon � stories of more children served, more lives<br />
changed for the better, additional children and youth who will flourish because of a<br />
caring individual in their life who is willing to selflessly advocate for them. It is because<br />
of your heart for disenfranchised children who are in need of a powerful voice, <strong>CASA</strong><br />
<strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> will make a difference in our world, one person at a time.<br />

Letter from the Executive Director, Susan Dorsey MBA<br />
<strong>CASA</strong> <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> is very fortunate to have a governing board with diversity, strong<br />
ethical values and well developed business insight. In a challenging economy <strong>CASA</strong><br />
<strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> has stood confident in their ability to not only provide service to our<br />
community children, but to continue to grow in the number of children served. The<br />
growth we have experienced is in a major part due to the <strong>CASA</strong> Board of Directors<br />
and the Capital Leadership Council.<br />
The <strong>CASA</strong> Governing board is comprised of 17 community members from <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong><br />
Hills, Cameron Park, Placerville and South Lake Tahoe, a strategic measure to ensure<br />
that all areas of the county are well represented. The board meets regularly once a<br />
month and participates in an annual day long strategic planning retreat, to establish<br />
viable outcomes for next year. In addition to governance oversight and policy making,<br />
the board actively participates in fund raising events and community outreach.<br />
In addition to the Governing Board, <strong>CASA</strong> <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> established a Capital Leadership<br />
Council (CLC) two years ago, with the defined purpose of providing ongoing financial<br />
sustainability for the organization. To date the council is made up of nine community<br />
members with a goal to grow to 20 members in the future. Each member has made a<br />
financial commitment of $5,000 per year which may be given corporately, personally<br />
or as an in-kind. In 2009, the decision was made to offer two levels of support: $5,000<br />
and $10,000 with the intent to further expand sustainability. The CLC meets twice a<br />
year to collaboratively establish innovative ways to raise funds in order to better serve<br />
our community children.<br />
In my role as the Executive Director, I wish to sincerely thank and commend the<br />
Governing Board and Capital Leadership Council for their strong commitment to<br />
<strong>CASA</strong> <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> and the children we serve.

Bill Kennedy , Advocate and retired<br />
<strong>CASA</strong> <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> Board Member<br />
Periodically in our lives, we are blessed to meet that special person whom we immediately recognize<br />
makes a significant difference. Bill Kennedy is just that person!<br />
Bill was born on June 5, 1928 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After graduating from high school, he<br />
attended the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris, MN and the University of Minnesota in<br />
Minneapolis, MN. Bill went on to enlist in the Air Force in AF Class 48A, serving as a pilot flying P51s,<br />
F80s and F86s from 1946 to 1950.<br />
���������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������������<br />
from GE as a sales associate serving in both Southern and Northern California, and retiring a second<br />
time as the small business owner of an advertising consulting business. Through work, Bill relocated to<br />
many destinations: Los Angeles, CA, Seattle, WA, Los Altos, CA., finally settling in Placerville in 1992.<br />
After moving to <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> County, Bill felt a calling and passion to make a difference in the lives of the<br />
children and youth of <strong>El</strong> <strong>Dorado</strong> County. Since 1994, Bill has served as an advocate for 6 children.<br />
What is really special about Bill is that he stayed with each child throughout the years, and for some,<br />
even after they have emancipated out of the system.<br />

Box Lunch fund raiser such a great success! In addition, Bill has proudly served our community<br />
through his service as a Flying Samaritan. His hobbies include, golf, tennis and flying.<br />
