welcome
...to the Haslemere Classic Car Show and Tour. We
hope you have a great day filled with motoring and
vintage entertainment.
Now in our forth year the show just keeps growing. Over forty stalls and
120 cars have pre-booked with us and for the first time we have produced
this ’lucky‘ programme. New sponsors have helped us with the
production costs and volunteered some great prizes.
Our intention is to keep improving the show and keep the high quality of
stalls and entertainment. In the future we hope many more people will
dress up in a vintage style thus enhancing our traditional village fete
atmosphere. Your comments are appreciated. We know many people
wanted the cream teas back, unfortunately this year with the town doing
a Jubilee tea for 3000 next weekend it proved impossible to implement
but we are on the case for next year.
This year the tour is slightly longer in route as we were given the
opportunity to visit Tangmere Aviation Museum near Chichester, it’s a
fascinating place and I would highly recommend a trip there. The
Lightening simulator is fantastic!
Please enjoy the day and come and visit us in the
HQ tent. Look at our website, we will put links to
photographs of the day online as soon as possible
and don’t forget to check your lucky programme
number if you are not able to stay for the draw.
Have a great afternoon
TOUR
Earlier this morning around 70 pre-73 classics
set off on the ’Tour’, this drive through the
beautiful local countryside is for those
enthusiasts who like to use their classics.
After breakfast the crews set off following a route
using ’tulips’ - pictorial representations of junctions
first used on Dutch rallies in the 50’s,
entrants cover about 60 miles,
mainly on smaller pretty roads. As
part of the tour we make a special
visit to a place of interest, previous
years have been to a private
collection, driven a couple of laps of the
Goodwood Motor Circuit and had a ride on a
steam train at Hollycombe.
This year the route took the classics to the East of
the town, over the downs to a stop at Tangmere
Aviation Museum and then back along the bottom
of the downs before crossing back at Harting via
the lanes to the West. The tour is limited, if you
would like to receive information next year please
send your details to hccs@jamesewing.co.uk
visit
Tangmere Aviation Museum is just outside of
Chichester on the site of the RAF airfield which
was in service from 1916 to post WWII.
Home to an impressive display of historic aircraft
and aviation memorabilia, the display needs more
than our brief visit to appreciate and we hope that
many of our tour entrants will take the time to go
back on another occasion and support the
museum in preserving this amazing collection. We
are delighted to make a donation to Tangmere to
thank them for welcoming us so warmly.
