Benet Music Camps
The focus of our choir and band/orchestra
camps is to provide a strong educational value
with a fun atmosphere as unlike school as possible.
Our camps include blocks of time for rehearsal,
sectionals, lessons, lunch and a variety of fun
breaks. For the fun breaks, students are broken
up into teams and participate in various activities
which each carry a point value. Students
can also acquire points during the course of the
day from camp counselors. The team with the
most points at the end of the week wins The
Golden Music Stand and bragging rights for the
next year.
Both camps culminate in a performance showcasing
the music the students have learned during
the week. This performance is open to
friends and family and is given on the last day
of camp at 4pm.
St. Daniel Hall for the Performing Arts
BAND / ORCHESTRA CAMP – 9am-3pm
This camp is designed to give students a balanced
concert band / orchestra experience.
Daily activities include:
Group and sectional rehearsal time
Introduction to Jazz Band techniques
Introduction to Marching Band fundamentals
String Techniques—working on shifting, faster
fingers (fiddling), string crossings, intonation in
ensemble, and right hand flexibility
Rhythm class focused on improving students’
ability to read music
Private lessons are available
PRIVATE LESSONS – BOTH CAMPS
Private lessons are available from our staff to further
enhance the students’ individual growth as a musician.
These are one-time diagnostic lessons where the
teacher evaluates and advises the students on techniques
for performance improvement.
Daily hot lunch buffet is available for $30 for
the week, if purchased before the first day of
camp, or $35 on the first day of camp.
CHOIR CAMP - 9am-3pm
This camp is designed to give students a
taste of different vocal styles.
Daily activities include:
Sessions focusing on vocal technique
and production through traditional
literature and musical theatre
Movement classes conducted by a
professional choreographer
Audition workshop designed to develop
skills for preparing audition
material
Private lessons are available
Students are also encouraged to participate
in our talent show “Benet Idol.” For the
show, students will prepare and perform a
song from the pop genre. Campers then
vote for their favorite performances.
Fees & Discounts
$220.00 per child per week of camp
$20.00 Discount if postmarked by May 1st
$25.00 Discount on additional camp tuition after
one camp at full price. (separate applications required)
