VISION for Library Transformation
Sunnyside School District is transforming teaching
and learning through technology. With the infusion of
digital g devices and multimedia in our classrooms and
school work environment, our libraries are expanding
their value in our educational vision and mission as
the center of digital learning and information
resources.

The Changing Role of the Library Clerk
Support of the school and library mission in
providing 21st Century learning to our students will
need to include staff with strong technology
operational and management skills skills. With this need in
mind, district staff and school librarians have begun
to explore the possibilities and options for the
transformation of our school libraries.

LIBRARY TRANSFORMATION
Media Center Technician
Current employees in the Library Clerk position will
have an opportunity to choose to move forward with
a new role and receive technical training/mentoring
or bid for other vacancies across the district.
No one will lose their job with this transition.

March 20, 2012 Second meeting with Librarians.
April 5, 2012 Second meeting with Library Clerks.
April 10, 2012 Information provided to Board.
April 12, 12 2012 Meeting with school administrators
April 11, 2012 Begin six-week training on Wednesdays for transitioning of
Library Clerks to Media Center Technicians.
April 13, 2012 Deadline for self-assessments to be submitted to administrator.
April –May Meetings with Library Transformation Committee
May 8, 2012 Recommendations presented to Board
Summer 2012 Opportunities for summer training TBA
August 31, 2012 Final assessment of minimum job skills required for position by
IT leadership.
