Executive Summary<br />
Project Grande (Guernsey) Ltd<br />
selected <strong>Dimension</strong> <strong>Data</strong> Advanced<br />
Infrastructure <strong>to</strong> procure and<br />
install multiple networking and<br />
communications technologies<br />
in<strong>to</strong> its prestige residential<br />
development. This involved<br />
multiple vendor products and<br />
multiple services from within<br />
the One Hyde Park site, as well<br />
as in<strong>to</strong> the neighbouring Mandarin<br />
Oriental Hotel.<br />
Client Overview<br />
One Hyde Park is a luxury residential<br />
development <strong>of</strong> 80 apartments and three<br />
retail boutiques on a prominent site in<br />
Knightsbridge, adjacent <strong>to</strong> Hyde Park in<br />
the UK.<br />
The building consists <strong>of</strong> four separate<br />
pavilions <strong>of</strong> varying heights up <strong>to</strong> thirteen<br />
s<strong>to</strong>reys high, <strong>of</strong>fering apartments<br />
with views over both Hyde Park and<br />
Knightsbridge. It was designed by<br />
architects Rogers Stirk Harbour and<br />
Partners. The apartments range in size<br />
from single bedroom units <strong>to</strong> large, multilevel<br />
penthouses all designed with an<br />
exceptional quality and attention <strong>to</strong> detail<br />
by interior designers Candy and Candy.<br />
At the time <strong>of</strong> the build One Hyde Park<br />
was the most expensive residential address<br />
in the world, with some apartments selling<br />
for a reported £130m.<br />
Business Challenge<br />
As befits a development <strong>of</strong> this nature,<br />
the level and range <strong>of</strong> services provided<br />
<strong>to</strong> residents – from concierge services, <strong>to</strong><br />
security, <strong>to</strong> communications – meant that<br />
the quality and reliability <strong>of</strong> the network<br />
installation, upon which many services<br />
relied, had <strong>to</strong> be outstanding.<br />
The demands upon those engaged in the<br />
development were stringent. For example,<br />
<strong>to</strong> maintain the aesthetics <strong>of</strong> the building:<br />
• Cable ties had <strong>to</strong> be cut <strong>of</strong>f and equally<br />
spaced wherever they were used in the<br />
interests <strong>of</strong> neatness; and<br />
• The mobile access points needed <strong>to</strong> be<br />
changed from dome shaped <strong>to</strong> stick<br />
aerial, while the facility had <strong>to</strong> be<br />
re-surveyed <strong>to</strong> find suitable points <strong>to</strong><br />
place them.<br />
Collaboration with the developers was<br />
required at two levels:<br />
• Engaging with multiple manufacturers <strong>to</strong><br />
install advanced equipment throughout,<br />
from networking <strong>to</strong> mobile infrastructure<br />
and handsets.<br />
• Integrating multiple services and<br />
suppliers, extending the integration <strong>to</strong><br />
include the Mandarin Oriental Hotel<br />
<strong>to</strong> provide a concierge service and a<br />
gym WI-FI service for use by guests as<br />
they train.<br />
The Way Forward<br />
This was the first major project undertaken<br />
between Project Grande (Guernsey)<br />
Ltd and <strong>Dimension</strong> <strong>Data</strong> Advanced<br />
Infrastructure. Despite <strong>Dimension</strong> <strong>Data</strong><br />
Advanced Infrastructure being called<br />
in late <strong>to</strong> the project, the quality and<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism <strong>of</strong> the team has led <strong>to</strong> the<br />
establishment <strong>of</strong> a firm relationship.

the building. The scope covered the<br />
installation <strong>of</strong> a secure LAN, telephony and<br />
an in-building cellular network with high<br />
coverage requirements, e.g. aerials installed<br />
in the lift shaft <strong>to</strong> ensure continuity <strong>of</strong><br />
coverage. The design ethos called for<br />
‘value enhancing’ and delivery <strong>of</strong> the right<br />
quality at the right price. <strong>Dimension</strong> <strong>Data</strong><br />
Advanced Infrastructure’s consultative and<br />
problem-solving approach allowed the<br />
project team <strong>to</strong> collaborate in achieving<br />

installation phase, thanks <strong>to</strong> its experience<br />
in other high-end developments.<br />

designed, delivered and installed a bespoke<br />
intelligent network infrastructure in order<br />
<strong>to</strong> provide a range <strong>of</strong> connectivity and<br />
communications services, commensurate<br />
with the reputation <strong>of</strong> the apartments and<br />
the expectations <strong>of</strong> its residents. <strong>Dimension</strong><br />
<strong>Data</strong> Advanced Infrastructure also provided<br />
a full warranty <strong>of</strong> works carried out, and<br />
will <strong>of</strong>fer as ad hoc fault reporting through<br />
its Infrastructure Operations Centre.<br />
