Braunvieh Association of America for Approved Sales. Terms are cash or check 

with proper I.D. and settlement must be made sale day and/or before any cattle

A certificate of registry and transfer will be furnished to the buyer at the seller’s

All cattle will have proper health certificates for immediate shipment.

All cattle become the risk of the buyer as soon as sold. Livestock Mortality 

Insurance will be available at the clerk’s desk at settlement. 

Delivery & tranSportation: 

Broken Oak will assist buyers in the transportation of their purchases to keep 

the charges at a minimum. Broken Oak will arrange and group cattle when and 

where possible to keep the maximum cost per head at $250.00 for delivery 

to your ranch or a central point as close as possible. This is not a guarantee 

however every effort will be made to accommodate buyers to arrange least 

cost loads. Any buyers picking up their purchases within 48 hours of the sale 

will be given a $50 credit at settlement.

EPDs are recalculated throughout the year by the Braunvieh Association 

of American, which means the figures represented in this book may 

change for these animals in the future. 

broken oak albiniSm guarantee: 

Albinism is a Class 2 genetic defect that has been found in a few Braunvieh 

cattle. It is classifield Class 2 because it does not cause severe economical 

loss. The BAA is diligently working to pinpoint the cattle that are carries so the 

problem can be controlled. All cattle in the Broken Oak Ranch Sale have 

been tested free of the albinism gene. 

Broken Oak Ranch also guarantees the calves resulting calves born from the 

pregnancies they are carrying at the time of sale to be free of albinism. It will 

be at the buyer’s discretion whether or not they wish to have the calves tested. 

If your purchase is to be tested for the guarantee, it must be completed and 

Broken Oak Ranch notified by the buyer within 12 months from the sale date. 

It will be the responsibility of the buyer to purchase the test kit from BAA , take 

the sample, pay all fees associated with the test and notify Broken Oak Ranch 

of the results. If the test is positive and the buyer wants to implement the guarantee, 

Broken Oak Ranch will satisfy the buyer with a refund or replacement. 

For bred animals sold that calve after the sale, 1/3 of purchase price will go 

towards the calf and 2/3 towards the cow for purposes of refund or replacement. 

Contact the BAA for an up-to-date listing of test results for cattle that 

have been DNA tested for Albinism.

With August here and 2008 passing quickly it is time for our annual production sale here at Broken 

Oak Ranch. We invite you to review the enclosed DVD and this sale book to assess this year’s offerings. 

We feel that this is the best set of function hard working females that we have offered to date. It is 

exciting for us to be offering 2nd and 3rd generation Broken Oak bred and Broken Oak raised registered 

replacements. 

Our program is something that we take very seriously and we all work hard at it. These females start 

with being weighed and measured at birth, weighed and measured at weaning, linear measured and 

weighed and scanned. Finally, we look at temperament and if temperament is poor then she is culled – 

problems are not for us or our customers. We work hard to bring to you the most functional and productive 

female investment with as much information possible – so that you can make sound choices. 

All of the cattle in our sale have been DNA verified and tested free of the albinism gene, with the 

exception of the calves at side of their dams. These however are out of proven albinism gene free 

bulls. 

Again this year we are selling our cattle on video under the air conditioned tent. We will have great 

food, refreshments, entertainment and fellowship, so make plans to attend and view some of the top 

Braunvieh Genetics in the breed.

The Cattle industry is both challenging and rewarding at this time. Numbers are down and replacements 

are going to be harder to find than ever in the short term. Feed costs are up and this is just another 

reason to use Broken Oak Genetics. We have suffered through 5 years of drought, these cattle have been 

tested by some of the harshest of conditions and have made the grade. They can and will work anywhere 

in the country and we feel they will be an asset to your program – otherwise we would not make them 

available for sale. 

This year we are offering a select group of open heifers at the very top of our replacement pen and a 

few show heifer prospects that come from some of our very best and have been selected to be the best.

Due to so much inquiry about our show heifers we decided to offer some in this sale. A special Thank you to Roger Mc- 

Dowell and Zach Ivey for taking the time to come down to the ranch after weaning to pick out the ones they felt would work 

for Juniors or any program wanting competitive females to show. Also, thanks to Mark and Roseanne Ivey and Flying I Ranch 

for working so close with us on our show stock.

Roger and Zach took these heifers to Flying I, halter broke them, groomed them and got them started on feed. They have 

been pre-conditioned and are ready to compete at the highest level. These heifers come from the same Ranch that has produced 

two National Champion Heifers and we believe the quality of this group to be every bit as good as those heifers. 

JuniOr incentiVe 

Broken Oak Ranch will give a $1,000.00 certificate to any Junior that wins at any of the Class A Braunvieh Shows with 

one of these heifers. That $1,000.00 certificate can be used towards the purchase of another Broken Oak heifer or be turned 

in for a cash value of $500.00. 

Broken Oak Ranch will also give a Junior a $2,000.00 certificate for winning the Junior Nationals that will be held in 

Lincoln, Nebraska in 2009. This $2,000.00 certificate can be used towards the purchase of another Broken Oak heifer or be 

turned in for a cash value of $1,000.00 

Broken Oak Ranch will give a Junior a $1,500.00 certificate for winning the San Antonio Junior Braunvieh Show in 2009. 

The certificate can be used towards the purchase of another Broken Oak heifer or be turned in for $750.00 cash. 

Broken Oak Ranch will donate 10% of the proceeds from the sale of these 8 show prospect that are purchased by Juniors, 

to the Junior Braunvieh Association to help offset the costs of the National Junior Show in 2009.
