Kader Attia
Kader Attia was born in 1970 in
Dugny, in Seine-Saint-Denis,
France. He lives and works in
Berlin. He studied at at the Ecole
Supérieure des Arts Appliqués in
Paris, at the Massana School of
Applied Arts in Barcelona and the
Ecole Nationale Supérieure des
Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
He works in the various mediums
of photography, video, sculpture,
drawings, and installation. His
work has been shown in numerous
museums worldwide, like Centro
de Arte Contemporano, Huarte in
Spain, the ICA in Boston, the Henry
Art Gallery in Seattle, the Kitchen
and Artist Space in New York, CNP
in Paris, at the Kunstwerke in Berlin,
the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the
Sternersen Museum in Oslo.
He has also taken part in the 50th
Biennale in Venice in 2003, the 8th
Biennale in Lyon in 2005, the Havana
Biennale in 2009 and the Sydney
Biennale in 2010. In 2009 he was
one of the winners of the Abraaj Art
Capital Prize and one of the fellows
of the Smithsonian Institution’s
Artist Research Program.

Yto Barrada
Yto Barrada was born in Paris in
1971 and educated in Tangier. She
later studied history and political
science at the Sorbonne, Paris and
photography in New York.
Her recent exhibitions include
Art Dubai, the Fowler Museum
(Los Angeles), the MoMA (San
Francisco and New York), Jeu
de Paume (Paris), and the 2007
Venice Biennale. In 2006, Barrada
was awarded the first Ellen
Auerbach Award in Berlin and
was shortlisted for the Deutsche
Börse Photography Prize. Her
book, “A Life Full of Holes - The
Strait Project,” was published by
Autograph ABP in 2005.
She is the director and co-founder
of the Cinémathèque de Tanger in
Tangier, Morocco.
