PROGRESS REPORT
HOLIDAY EDITION
Most recently, Bost has begun offering
services within the local school
systems. Bost CARES believes that
early intervention is a positive way to
redirect the lives of young people to
successfully accomplish their goals.
The key to early intervention is
partnering with schools, students, and
families to customize services to
maximize each child’s potential.
Crisis intervention and stabilization
luncheon in Fort Smith for area State
needs and community disability organizations
with respect to the current State
budget hearings and the Legislative
legislators in turn shared that it is
important for Board members, staff, and
family members continue sharing
Jolene LeRoy Independence
Scholarship 2010 Recipient
Gwendolyn Adkins, who prefers
to be called Gwen, has been
selected as this year's winner of
the Jolene Leroy Scholarship,
sponsored by Bost, Inc. and the
Leroy family. Gwen has lived in
many group homes throughout
Arkansas. She had resided in
Bost's Van Buren Group Home
for several years before moving
to Chapel Pines ICF/MR in Pine
Though very happy to live at Willow Creek ICF/MR residence, Gwen
also wishes to live more independently and was patiently waiting to be
approved for Waiver services. Recently, Gwen received approval for
Waiver services; however, she had no personal furnishings for community
living, with the exception of an entertainment center and television.
As the award winner of this year's Jolene Leroy Scholarship, Gwen will
now receive basic home furnishings to move into her own apartment.
The Jolene LeRoy Scholarship is designed to assist individuals seeking
greater independence through an endowment fund dedicated to this
purpose. Endowment earnings provide one or more scholarships per
year. Scholarship recipients receive the money and personal support they
need to live independently to realize their fullest potential. This fits
perfectly with Mrs. LeRoy's belief that all people, no matter their
disabilities, deserve the right to live as they choose.
A Nite at the Races
Gwen Adkins is thrilled to receive
the Jolene LeRoy Scholarship.
Bluff due to increasing medical problems. During her time at Chapel
Pines, she prayed for the opportunity to return to Bost and the Fort Smith
area. She and her family were overjoyed when an opening was finally
available at Bost's ICF/MR Willow Creek home in Fort Smith.
The GFWC-Junior Civic League
ladies held their 6th Annual A
Nite at the Races on October 16
at Golden Living. Not only did
patrons enjoy betting on their
picks of the day, they also
enjoyed good food, live music, a
silent auction.
All proceeds from A Nite at the
Races are donated to Bost, Inc to
help provide services to individuals
with mental, physical, and
developmental disabilities.
Bost is very grateful to the women
of the Junior Civic League for
their dedicated service to and
Ways of Giving
Dear Friends of Bost,
The Bost Foundation was established to build a permanent fund to
support the continuation and expansion of services for individuals with
disabilities. I would like to take this opportunity to share a few simple
ways which you can help build the Bost Foundation.
• Make Bost Foundation Inc. a designated beneficiary of one of your
individual retirement accounts. This is one of the easiest and most tax
efficient ways to make a charitable contribution.
• Make Bost Foundation the beneficiary of one of your life insurance
policies. This is a very simple and effective way to make a charitable
gift.
• Make your bank account, certificate of deposit or investment account
“payable on death” to Bost Foundation Inc.
• Make Bost Foundation Inc. the beneficiary of your residence or other
real property by executing a beneficiary deed. A beneficiary deed
conveys an ownership interest in real property at the death of the
owner.
• Make a specific request to Bost Foundation Inc. in your will or trust.
Please give us a call if you have an interest in leaving part of your estate
to Bost Foundation Inc. We would be very appreciative of your financial
support.
Sincerely,
Charles W. Blaschke, President
Bost Foundation Board of Trustees
