Echoes of her pain fall through<br />
Rippling unto waters still<br />
And I, wailing on that crest of rock<br />
Tell me: what string shall I pluck<br />
Doubling ano<strong>the</strong>r chorus in silence?<br />
Jig to jig, step to dance and hop to bop<br />
Though world’s ruins smouldering<br />
Rank waters stifling to thirst<br />
Any shape or form or vaguely drawn hint<br />
Of an end –<br />
Yet <strong>the</strong> end cometh not!<br />
Alas; insufferable is written on my brow<br />
Ana<strong>the</strong>ma! Dare I but dream perchance<br />
Of a sweeter verse,<br />
For soliloquy to maddening madrigal<br />
Prey me atrocity…<br />
Chaos and Nihil!<br />
Lady of Aught, Sire of Cipher<br />
Heed me lastly; I was baffled by Fate<br />
- cleaved on Her altar<br />
And naysaid that grant, once and twice and<br />
e’er!<br />
