Welcome to the vibrant and dynamic organisation that is South East Open 

Studios. This is our twelfth Open Studios fortnight and we go from strength 

to strength with 265 artists joining us this year; our biggest number ever. 

During the SEOS fortnight our artists open their houses and studios, discuss their work and explain their 

techniques. Art practice can be a solitary activity and artists value the chance to interact with their 

visitors and fellow artists to get some useful feedback. 

Visitors get a chance to see a huge choice of work, meet and talk to the artists, and buy or commission works. This year artists who will 

be demonstrating in their studios can be found by the wording at the bottom of their entry. 

Success is the culmination of much hard work on the part of all the artists and an amazing amount of sustained hard work all year by a 

dedicated committee. They produce this high quality Guide and Arts Directory, manage our website www.seos-art.org, our database, 

funding, sponsorship, publicity, Guide distribution, finance and co-ordinate our areas. 

SEOS covers a large area and we are reliant on the fifteen talented Area Co-Ordinators who each lead a group of artists. This system 

fosters a local group identity and encourages friendships and new projects outside the SEOS fortnight. 

Please use the Guide to contact our artists at any time of year. Some will have further works viewable on the website.

sculpture. She loves to experiment 

with a variety of media from

with dyes and inks. Janet has 

exhibited in Vienna, Cologne and 

Jersey as well as locally in Kent. 

She works out of the Crows Camp 

Studio in Bishopsbourne. 

WENDY McNAUGHT has 

recently re-located from Sussex 

and settled in East Kent. Much of 

the inspiration for her current art 

comes from the beautiful and 

unchanging landscape of this part 

of the country. Wendy works both 

as a painter and sculptor and has 

exhibited throughout the south of 

England as well as exhibiting and 

selling at the Society of Equestrian 

Artists, the Mall Gallery, London. 

JULIE MURRAY-SMITH 

completed her art training at 

Canterbury and then continued her 

education to gain a psychology 

degree. Her work is influenced by 

the ethereal quality of the ever 

changing light and colour within 

the environment. Julie has 

exhibited mainly in Kent and the 

Isle of Wight and currently works 

out of the Crows Camp Studio in 

Bishopsbourne.
