it’s a mark of our time that “green<br />
car” makes us think “fuel efficient.”<br />
When I was a kid, <strong>the</strong> phrase brought<br />
to mind <strong>the</strong> shiny Chevy that bounced<br />
us to town for piano lessons, with a<br />
stop at <strong>the</strong> Dairy Queen for ice cream<br />
if all went well. Now our family is in<br />
<strong>the</strong> market for a green car, and it has<br />
nothing to do with colour. We want to<br />
consume less energy.<br />
Going green, we discover, comes in<br />
many flavours. Diesel. Hybrid. Electric.<br />
Honey-I-shrunk-<strong>the</strong>-car. What makes<br />
<strong>the</strong> most sense? I put that question to<br />
three NAIT alumni with years under<br />
<strong>the</strong> hood in automotive shops.<br />
