Leaders Course<br />
<strong>EOL</strong> 471 is a sixty hour course<br />
designed to train equal opportunity<br />
leaders (<strong>EOL</strong>) who will be<br />
performing <strong>EOL</strong> duties part-time.<br />
The course is designed to provide a<br />
foundation for understanding group<br />
dynamics and the communication<br />
process; increase awareness of racist<br />
or sexist behavior; and increase<br />
awareness of discrimination based on<br />
race, sex, cultural, or<br />
ethnic differences.<br />
The course will introduce<br />
students to current equal<br />
opportunity regulations<br />
and policies.<br />
<strong>EOL</strong> <strong>Duties</strong><br />
<strong>Duties</strong> of a Unit Equal Opportunity<br />
Leader (<strong>EOL</strong>):<br />
• Assist commanders in addressing EO<br />
climate detractors<br />
• Continuously assist commanders in<br />
the conduct of unit climate<br />
assessments<br />
• Prepare and assist the commander in<br />
the conduct of EO training<br />
• Establish and maintain liaison with<br />
other <strong>EOL</strong>’s and with EO personnel at<br />
higher headquarters<br />
•Assist commanders<br />
and assigned project<br />
officers in preparing<br />
and conducting<br />
ethnic observances<br />
and special<br />
commemorations
