"Very dark blackish crimson. Lots buried in there - spice and tarmacadam<br />
and the merest whiff of treacle toffee but overall amazing life and energy.<br />
Lifted and above all fresh! Wonderfully subtle and savoury and with a hint<br />
of cough medicine but wonderfully dry and thick and long on the palate...<br />
No heat at all. Extremely fine tannins. Wonderfully suave and really not<br />
like any other wine I can think of... So persistent! Drink 2010-60 "<br />

Wolf Blass<br />
Wolf Blass, who has released his biography to mark his 75th<br />
birthday, arrived in Australia from Germany in 1961 with 100 British<br />
pounds in his pocket and a knowledge of wine, having studied and<br />
worked in Europe's wine industry for 13 years. Blass credits women<br />
for his success in helping to put Australia on the world wine map: "It<br />
was my philosophy to get women to participate, and without this I<br />
don't think I would have made it because today women determine<br />
what will be on the table. I admire that I was smart enough to realise<br />
that without the opposite sex, we were never going to get there. I<br />
just love women. I always have."<br />
