Super-Regional Convention <strong>National</strong> Business Meeting Minutes<br />
1. President Clark Youngblood called a <strong>National</strong> Business Meeting to order at 11:35 a.m., during the<br />
combined regional convention at the Peabody Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas, March 27, 2010. Dr. Patricia<br />
Williams read a list of resolutions (See the minutes of the <strong>National</strong> <strong>Council</strong> Meeting for the wording of the<br />
resolutions.).<br />
2. Constitutional Amendment. President Youngblood introduced the following motion to change the<br />
constitution to read:<br />
ARTICLE II<br />
Purpose<br />
Section 1. The purpose of <strong>Alpha</strong> <strong>Chi</strong> shall be the promotion and recognition of scholarship and of those<br />
elements of character which make scholarship effective for good among the students in the academic divisions<br />
of colleges and universities in the United States of America and other countries.<br />
Section 2. <strong>Alpha</strong> <strong>Chi</strong> is organized exclusively for educational purposes, including, for such purposes, the<br />
making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the<br />
Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.<br />
The motion carried.<br />
3. Service Projects. Vice President Ellen Millsaps reported on the service projects. Over 2,700 books were<br />
given nationwide for literacy programs. Many of the books were given to Reading is Fundamental. In addition<br />
$290 was donated to Reading is Fundamental, and a total of $2,500 was donated to Heifer International by<br />
<strong>Alpha</strong> <strong>Chi</strong> chapters.<br />
4. Presentation Prizes. Dr. Fay Nielsen and Dr. Pamela Stephens presented presentation prizes to the<br />
