José Tomás Ramos Amador is a paediatric specialist and Chairman of Pediatrics at the University Hospital Getafe. Dr Ramos is the<br />

author and coauthor of over 70 book chapters, and nearly 200 publications and a reviewer of several international and Spanish journals<br />

on paediatrics and infectious diseases. Dr Ramos is also a member of the PENTA Steering Committee (Paediatric European Network for the<br />

Treatment of AIDS) and a member of the Spanish Advisory Committee of Plan Nacional del SIDA (Ministry of Health).<br />

Jane Anderson is Director of the Centre for the Study of Sexual Health at Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Working in<br />

East London, her clinical practice and research interests focus on HIV in ethnic minority and migrant populations in the UK, with a special<br />

interest in the care of women with HIV. Professor Anderson is a member of the Executive Committee, Treatment Guidelines and Conference<br />

Subcommittees of the British HIV Association.<br />

David Asboe is a Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. His research interests include<br />

the sexual health of HIV-positive individuals and antiretroviral resistance. Dr Asboe is deputy convenor of the Diploma HIV Med exam and<br />

serves on the executive of the British HIV Association.<br />

Joanna Begent has trained in paediatrics in hospitals around London, including several years of oncology at Great Ormond Street Hospital.<br />

She is now a Consultant in Adolescent Medicine at UCLH in the largest dedicated adolescent unit in the country. She has a special interest<br />

in young people with medically unexplained symptoms. Dr Begent is particularly involved in the child-safeguarding aspects of this challenging<br />

group of patients.<br />

Yves Benhamou is Associate Professor of Hepatology in the Department of Hepatology and Gastroenterology at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital<br />

in Paris, France. He has been the principal investigator for numerous clinical trials related to the management and the treatment of hepatitis<br />

C and B in persons with and without HIV co-infection. He organised and chaired the First European Consensus Conference on the Treatment<br />

of Chronic Hepatitis B and C in HIV-Infected Patients held in Paris in 2005. Dr Benhamou has authored or co-authored more than 300 peerreviewed<br />

articles and is currently involved in a number of clinical trials, including research into viral hepatitis.<br />

Mark Bower is a Medical Oncologist at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and Professor at Imperial College who specialises in the treatment<br />

of AIDS-related malignancies. He has developed probably the largest centre for the management of these tumours in Europe, receiving<br />

referrals from throughout the UK. Professor Bower remains active in clinical and laboratory research.<br />

Garry Brough co-founded the Bloomsbury Patients Network in 1999 and was the clinic’s first paid Patient Representative. He managed the<br />

YMCA Positive Health <strong>Programme</strong>, developing their national HIV & Exercise training, before moving to THT as an HIV Health Trainer, where<br />

he is currently Membership & Involvement Officer. Community involvement includes the <strong>BHIVA</strong> Guidelines Subcommittee, HIV Consortium<br />

PPE Subgroup and Community Rapporteur, and workshop facilitator at the Vienna 2010 AIDS Conference.<br />

Jacqueline Capeau is Professor in Cell Biology and Biochemistry at the Pierre and Marie Curie Faculty of Medicine, Paris. She is the head<br />

of the Biochemistry Department at the Tenon Hospital and of the Saint-Antoine Research Centre. She is involved in studies on genetic and<br />

acquired lipodystrophies, including lipodystrophies in HIV-infected patients, on hepatic alterations linked to insulin resistance, and on<br />

premature aging observed in HIV-infected patients.<br />

Myron S Cohen is J. Herbert Bate Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Microbiology and Immunology and Public Health at the University<br />

of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He serves as the Director of the UNC Division of Infectious Disease and the UNC Institute for Global Health<br />

and Infectious Disease, and serves on the Leadership Groups of the NIH Center for HIV Vaccine Immunology (CHAVI) and the NIH HIV<br />

Prevention Trials Network (HPTN). Dr Cohen’s research work focuses on the transmission and prevention of transmission of HIV and much<br />

of his research has been conducted in the African country of Malawi and in the People’s Republic of China.<br />

Ross Cranston is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Disease at the University of Pittsburgh. He is director of the Anal Dysplasia<br />

Clinic and Research Program, Medical Director of the Pitt Men’s Study (Pittsburgh site of the Multicenter AIDS Cohort), and an Investigator<br />

in the Microbicide Trials Network.<br />

Hilary Curtis trained as a scientist and has worked in HIV/AIDS since the 1980s. She co-ordinates <strong>BHIVA</strong>'s National Clinical Audit <strong>Programme</strong><br />

alongside other projects as an independent consultant in health and health-related policy issues.<br />

Harry Dalton is Consultant Gastroenterologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer, Royal Cornwall Hospital and Peninsula Medical School. He was<br />

Dame Sheila Sherlock Travelling Fellow 2009. He has published 25 recent research papers on the emergence of hepatitis E virus in developing<br />

countries as a porcine zoonosis and a public health issue.<br />

Stephane De Wit is Senior Physician and Deputy Director at the AIDS Reference Centre of St Pierre Hospital, Brussels. He is Associate<br />

Professor of Internal Medicine at the Brussels University and coordinator of the Brussels HIV Saint Pierre Cohort. He has been involved in<br />

AIDS research for the last 27 years and is (co-)author of 120 articles, 250 communications and 11 book chapters.<br />
