Campaign Update

Fulfilling the Promise, the Capital Campaign of La Salle College High
School, has continued to do well during the last few months of tumultuous
economic times. A true testament to the work of the Christian Brothers
and the value placed on a Lasallian education is the fact that only 175
donors have committed almost $19,000,000 to this campaign. While the
majority of donors have made pledges of $25,000, the average gift is
over $100,000. These numbers are evidence of the commitment and
generosity of our donors not only to the school, but to the education of
future generations of Lasallian Gentlemen. These donors have not only
supported the ‘bricks and mortar’ of the new addition, but also the
endowment and financial aid.
The next step in our fundraising strategy and final goal of $25 million will be to
go public with the campaign to the entire La Salle Community. Once the campaign
reaches the $20 million mark, steps will be taken to engage all of our alumni, parents,
and friends. The Campaign Committee has already been approached by a number of
alumni classes expressing the desire to obtain naming rights to a new classroom, a
renovated room in McLean Hall, or an endowed scholarship. Our next big push will be
to enable their wishes through a series of class campaigns. The final phase will incorporate
all of our alumni and the greater La Salle Community who wish to be a part of
this historic and groundbreaking initiative at La Salle College High School.
If you haven’t been back to La Salle lately, I encourage you to stop by and see the
new Ward Baseball Field, the Whalen Courtyard, the McCarthy Trail, the Hughes
College Counseling Center, the Donahue-Fitzpatrick Counseling Center, the Mothers
Club Marian Chapel and our state-of-the art laboratories and classrooms. As Brother
Richard Kestler always points out, La Salle keeps building on strength after strength.

History was made on Monday,
March 23, 2009 when the first
baseball game was played on Ward
Field, the new baseball stadium
developed as part of Fulfilling
The Promise. The field was made
possible through the generosity of
George and Cathy Ward. George Ward
is a graduate of the Class of 1958 and
a catcher on the 1956, 1957, and 1958
baseball teams. He is a retired
businessman who currently resides
in Southern California with his
wife, Cathy.
