While you are here, you'll certainly want to travel around Turkey and learn more about it. Some knowledge of<br />
Turkish will be helpful, however. Tourist facilities in many areas are quite well-developed. There are comfortable<br />
hotels and excellent museums in or near all the major tourist sites, and a number of helpful guidebooks are<br />
available in English. Transportation by air, train or bus is efficient and relatively inexpensive. Passenger ships<br />
from <strong>Istanbul</strong> call at various Black Sea, Aegean and Mediterranean ports.<br />
<strong>Istanbul</strong> has many reliable travel agencies if you are interested in a group tour or if you want help and advice on<br />
planning your own trip. You may choose to join the American Research Institute in Turkey (ARIT), or similar<br />
organizations, which organize tours both in and outside Turkey. The Greek border is only four hours away and<br />
easily reached by bus.<br />
