Indonesia’s pristine rainforest, the habitat of tiger,
orangutan, elephant, rhino and many other endangered
species continues to be cleared at a rate of 340,000 ha per
year to make way for palm oil plantations.
Auckland Zoo believes the only way to reverse this situation
is for consumers to reduce their consumption of palm oil.
As an organisation, Auckland Zoo has made the decision to
avoid or minimise the use or sale of palm oil with the
ultimate goal of being palm oil free.

Phineas Phrog have worked in conjunction with Auckland Zoo
providing exciting, interactive entertainment for kids’ birthday
parties for over 5 years.
We provide a wide range of fully trained character hosts who help
make the running of your child’s birthday party a stress free,
delightful experience.
Please note: our hosts can entertain up to 10 children‐ if there are
more than 10 children attending it is imperative that two
character hosts are requested.

How we can help with your child’s birthday: Provide an
entertaining presence; organise an easy treasure hunt; do simple
face painting; play games; dancing; take the children to look at
certain animals on a fun zoo trail; assist with party formalities
such as handing out food and drink, present opening, cake cutting
etc; sit with the children while they eat; sing happy birthday.
Or choose a character host who can do all of the above and
perform an interactive show.
Interactive Show Descriptions
All our shows are approximately 20 minutes long and they are
interactive. A professional actor encourages the children (and
parents) to join in with animal related games, actions and
movement. These are based on active movement principles and
encourage the use of imagination and participation. They include
interesting, entertaining and educational zoo/animal facts. They
can be slotted in at anytime during the party and prizes can be
given out as part of the show. Ideally suited for children 3‐7 years
of age.

Do you have what it takes to be a Zooper
Hero? Are you as strong as an orang‐utan or
as fast as a cheetah? Join our crazy Zookeeper
as he explains how we can all become Zooper
Heroes, (that’s the name for an Auckland Zoo
super hero!). Learn what makes the animals
at Auckland Zoo so special and about their
unique special powers. See if you can match
their super animal skills and demonstrate
some of your own talents. This inter‐active
Zooper Hero show is full of fun animal facts
and silly zoo related games.
Learn to be a princess with our beautiful
Princess Rosebud. She will teach you how to
dance for the ball, to act like a princess and all
about her favourite royal pets (different
animals at the zoo). Note: for larger parties
we have done a Pirate and Fairy show when
we teach the boys to be pirates and the girl’s
fairies and then play games against each
other.
It is grrrrreat fun to be a tiger at Auckland
Zoo! In this inter‐active show you will
discover all the terrific things tigers can do,
play some positively purrrrfect cat games
and learn some big cat facts along the way.
This show includes fun facts and games
related to lots of the other animals you will
see when you explore the zoo as well.

Kids’ Birthday Parties - Terms and Conditions
Auckland Zoo provides a unique venue for groups of all ages to have a great time in a safe, clean and green environment.
It is very important that you take the time to read and understand these terms and conditions to ensure the success of your child’s
birthday party at Auckland Zoo:
Payment and Confirmation
� To confirm your booking a non‐refundable deposit of $100.00 is required within seven (7) days of making your pencil booking.
� Completed forms with final numbers and details must be received at least five (5) working days prior to your party date. No
changes can be made after this time.
� Payment in full must be received at least three (3) working days prior to your party date. Failure to make payment on time may
result in your party being cancelled.
� Once payment is received and numbers confirmed, we will send wristbands to you for your guests. It is your responsibility to
ensure that your guests receive these and wear them on the day. The wristbands are like concert tickets, if your guests fail to
bring them on the day they will be required to pay standard admission rates for adults and the full Kid’s Birthday Party admission
rate for children.
� All guests attending the birthday party including Friends of the Zoo must be wearing their wristbands to gain entry to the party
venue.
� Wristbands can only be used for entry to your party and are not transferable as entry to the Zoo on any other day/time.
� Prices included in this document are applicable for the Kids’ Birthday Party package only.
� Auckland Zoo reserves the right to amend these conditions or prices as required from time to time.
Cancellations, Postponements and Refunds
� All party changes, postponements and cancellations must be negotiated directly with the Experience Products team and are at
the discretion of Auckland Zoo.
� Parties will take place regardless of the weather, unless the Zoo itself is closed. If you wish to postpone the party due to bad
weather, you must notify us at least two (2) working days prior to the party date. No postponements will be made on weekends,
public holidays or the day of the party.
� Refunds will not be given for any bookings cancelled within seven (7) days of the party.
� Unused wristbands will not be refunded. No refunds will be issued if guests do not show up on the day.
� It is important to understand that there is no rain contingency for the Critter Cottages area and while parties can be postponed as
per the conditions outlined above, deposits will not be refunded if you then deem the site unsuitable. If you are in any doubt and
have not yet had a site visit with one of the Experience Products team, we invite you to book a time to view the cottages with one
of us from Monday – Friday between 10am and 4pm
General
� Terms and Conditions of entry to Auckland Zoo apply. These are listed on our website at http://www.aucklandzoo.co.nz/plan‐

� Photographs and video taken may not be used for commercial or promotional purposes without express permission from
Auckland Zoo. For further information about commercial photography or filming at the Zoo, contact the Zoo's Media and
Communications Coordinator on (09) 360 3804.
� A zoo staff member (zoo host) must be present at every birthday party. The zoo host will unlock the cottages, set up, pack down,
liaise with the caterer and other suppliers on your behalf then clean up after your party is finished.
Responsibilities of the Customer
� On the day of the party, the customer is responsible for:
� The behaviour of attendees and compliance with the terms and conditions.
� Ensuring Zoo facilities are not left in an abused or damaged condition. Any damage to Zoo property will be on‐charged to the
customer who can then take the matter up with the person/s responsible.
� Ensuring that the times arranged for the commencement of the party are strictly adhered to. Please be on time as a courtesy
to those providing your party services.
� Ensuring that the party (including any packdown required) finishes within the designated venue hire period. Parties must not
run over due to lateness by the client. Parties are scheduled back to back with a brief cleaning/set‐up time in between.
Because of the quick turnaround, we must insist that you adhere to your party times.
� Ensuring that no glass is brought into the Critter Cottage area, for health and safety reasons.
� Ensuring that prohibited items are not brought into the Zoo, these include: whistles, balls, balloons, Frisbees or other
throwing devices, party poppers or other noise makers, motorised vehicles, bicycles, skateboards or roller‐skates/blades,
alcohol or illegal substances.

Catering and Equipment
� You are welcome to supply your own food for the party. It should be noted however, that there are no cooking, cooling or
storage facilities available at the Zoo.
� Bringing BBQs, grills and other cooking equipment into the Zoo is not permitted.
� Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the Critter Cottages party area. Alcohol can be purchased from Darwin’s Café but must
be consumed at the Café.
� All hire equipment must be organised through a Zoo approved supplier. No other hire companies are permitted on Zoo grounds
unless prior arrangements have been made with the Experience Products team.
� If you have arranged for any specialist items to be delivered to the Zoo, this must be arranged with us prior to the delivery date.
You will be responsible for delivery and collection of such items. Auckland Zoo accepts no responsibility for any damage,
breakage or loss of property arising during delivery or storage at the Zoo.
� For all equipment hired directly from Auckland Zoo ‐ the customer shall take good and proper care of the equipment and shall be
fully liable to Auckland Zoo for the cost of repairs or replacement of the equipment for any loss or damage howsoever caused. In
the event that any equipment is returned to Auckland Zoo in dirty condition, the customer shall be liable for any cleaning
charges.
� All marquees and other canopies must be self supporting and pre‐approved by the Experience Products team. No spikes, stakes
or pegs are to be used without specific approval by the Experience Products team.
Decorations, Themeing and Costumes
� Auckland Zoo allows customers to bring their own decorations and themeing onsite. Please liaise with the Experience Products
team for further information on what is permitted.
� Balloons, balls, confetti, whistles, scatters and party poppers are not permitted.
� We allow attachments to the venue (walls, door or building) by the 3M range of products only. Nails, screws or adhesives
(including blu‐tac) are not permitted.
� All equipment and decorations must be removed at the conclusion of the party, within agreed timeframes. Any decorations left
onsite will be discarded.
� Some animals are sensitive to costumed characters. Visitors must not bring into the Zoo any costume. Please check with the
Experience Products team if you are unsure.

Auckland Zoo Conservation
Conservation is at the heart of Auckland Zoo. Ask any staff member, and they will tell you what drives them is their passion
for conservation – the ability to make a difference to wildlife and the environment, and to inspire others to do the same.
Auckland Zoo supports in situ (field) conservation projects nationally and internationally. The Zoo is also actively involved in
