KODAK VISION2 HD
Color Scan Film
KODAK VISION2 HD Color Scan Film 7299 is a
color negative camera film designed for use
exclusively with the KODAK VISION2 HD
System. Available in 16 mm widths only, it is a
medium- to high-speed, extended latitude
film with fine grain and excellent sharpness.
Created specifically for television production,
this film allows you to match the tone and
color of many KODAK color negative film
stocks when transferred with the KODAK
VISION2 HD Digital Processor. This powerful
digital processing combined with the film's
extended latitude makes it possible to shoot
this film at a nominal exposure index of either
500 or 320.
Further, even though this is a tungstenbalanced
film, the KODAK VISION2 HD Digital
Processor can compensate for color balance if
the film is shot in daylight conditions without
a Wratten 85 filter. The digital processing can also compensate for over and under exposures. The film is intended for
scanning applications only and is not printable through traditional optical printing methods. The film must be
transferred through the KODAK VISION2 HD Digital Processor hardware. KODAK will loan the KODAK VISION2 HD
Digital Processor System to post production houses designated to Kodak by production companies using the KODAK
VISION2 HD Color Scan Film 7299. Minimum volume purchases may be required to qualify for the use of a dedicated
Digital Processor. Also, minimum system requirements must be met by the post house to operate the hardware.
The process-surviving anti-static, gray estar base reduces the propensity for dirt and static marks,
which improves the yield of high-quality sound negatives at sound transfer facilities and increases
productivity at labs. Improved acutance and sharpness of the new film yield better signal-to-noise
performance, improved high-frequency response, and improved sound quality in both digital and
analog tracks
This black-and-white film is orthochromatic to accept both analog and digital sound. Its faster speed
and higher contrast provide more recording latitude. Designed for the familiar D-97 process, this
new film's D-min (base+fog) is less sensitive to process variations, and the constant low D-min makes
it easier to use in a standard printer setup.
Previsualize, create and share the look
of your next project!
Building on breakthroughs fostered by KODAK
Color Science, KODAK Look Manager System now
allows a director of photography to previsualize
and create a scene's look through postproduction.
The system can be used to emulate the look of
various film stocks under a wide range of
conditions, reducing the time required to do actual
film tests. And KODAK Look Manager System is the
first and only software-based system to allow you
to put that look on the display devices of other
team members-with the touch of a button.
Kodak Look Manager System:
• Leverages Kodak's unique understanding of color science and film technology to ensure a
more consistent image reference.
• Allows you to model the effect of a variety of gels, filters, exposure conditions and
postproduction techniques on KODAK Film stocks for color, tone and contrast.
• Supports creative vision from pre- through postproduction.
• Lets all members of the production and postproduction teams collaborate-even from
remote locations.
• Enables the lab, dailies colorist and print timer to match the exact look for a scene.
• Makes it easy to share looks via a file transfer protocol (FTP) site, e-mail or hard copy.
• Helps reduce the number of film tests needed to establish a look.
Manage the Look Two Ways:
CINEMATOGRAPHER EDITION
Good for comparing a look in a variety of film and processing conditions on a single machine.
license key forever, limited # of images on CD, can download your own images from the recommended cameras, no
calibration, can communicate - export/import images or recipe ; Drag and drop looks : A look can be applied to an
image simply by dragging it over the image; Split screen capabilities (better comparison of images) ; Project
synchronization between partners (lab, production company, SFX houses) ; Exportation of 3D luts is enabled (can be
used to apply the desired look on a whole moving sequence)
PRODUCTION EDITION
Provides accurate and consistent display calibration so looks can be shared between users.
license key based on time period, can download images from the recommended cameras or scanned images, monitor
calibration, can communicate - export/import images or recipe
Now every workstation can display the
look of projected motion picture film.
How do you ensure display devices in a Burbank
studio and a Bangkok lab are on the same page -
presenting not just consistent tone and color, but
the look of final print film? KODAK Display Manager
System - powered by KODAK Color Science -
calibrates, characterizes and leverages 3D LUT
technology to do just that. Now everyone in the
postproduction workflow has a consistent visual
reference - saving time and streamlining
collaboration - of what will appear on the theatrical
screen.
Kodak Display Manager System
• An easy-to-use way to display an accurate simulation of projected print film.
• Calibrates, characterizes and transforms from print density to device-specific code
valuesenabling a consistent view across all displays in a facility.
• Includes a gamut alert function to display the colors that are outside of the display device
gamut, but are reproducible on film.
KODAK Color Science Technology sets the standard
• KODAK Color Science provides a baseline for digital color rendition in both the
KODAK Display Manager System and KODAK Look Manager Systemthe easy-to-use way
to previsualize and share a project's look throughout the motion picture production
chain.
• KODAK Display Manager System is an integral part of the KODAK Look Manager System
and simulates the KODAK Film stocks selected.
• KODAK Display Manager System means post houses and labs can work from the same
visual standardsmaking collaboration more effective.
With experience supporting more than 1600 Kodak Digital Cinema Pre-Show
systems installed throughout the US, and with contracts to more than double that
number, Kodak continues to dramatically expand its market offerings and success.
The company is the number one independent supplier of digital pre-show systems
in the world.
Kodak networked systems are currently on the screens of 14 exhibition chains in the
U S, Canada, China and Japan. For a seamless and accurate in-cinema presentation,
the Kodak digital system connects to the cinema's automation, audio, and ticketing
systems, so specific pre-shows can be designed to play with individual movies, or at
different times of day.
In partnership with its customers, Kodak digitally manages and delivers complex
pre-shows, comprising as many as ninety elements, to almost three million moviegoers
a month.
Newly developed for feature presentations is the Kodak CineServer, often used in
conjunction with Barco DP-100 2K projectors. The Kodak CineServer is an easy-touse
networked solution designed and developed with Kodak's depth of image
science and decades of market experience in the motion picture industry. The Kodak
CineServer is also available as a single screen product for emerging markets and
screening rooms. Kodak and Barco have announced a strategic alliance to provide
a single integrated solution for cinema owners investing in high quality digital
projection for feature films, fully compatible with newly defined industry standards.
The Kodak Digital Cinema system for pre-show applications and feature
presentations is supported by Kodak's worldwide field service and support force.
Taken together, the systems and services provide a full 'menu of choices' to enable
customers to get started with Kodak today and to stay with Kodak as their digital
cinema needs evolve.
Winding Designations
A plastic core is normally used with all 16 mm films in
lengths over 60.96 m/200 ft and with all 35 mm films in
lengths over 30.48 m/100 ft. Camera spools are normally
supplied with 35 mm x 30.48 m/100-ft rolls and 16 mm x
30.48 m/100-ft and 60.96 m/200-ft rolls.
It is necessary to designate the desired winding for 16
mm film perforated one edge and for 35 mm film with
16 mm and 8 mm perforations. Proper choice of winding
depends on the equipment upon which the film is to be
used. The following sketches illustrate the various
windings:
16 mm Winding A 16 mm Winding B
In the above sketches the film is wound on cores and
the emulsion side of the film faces the center of the
roll. When the roll is held so that the outside or leader
end of the film leaves the roll at the top and toward
the right, Winding A has the perforations along the
edge of the film toward the observer and Winding B
has the perforations along the edge away from the
observer.
35 mm Winding A 35 mm Winding B
In the above sketches the film is wound on cores and the
emulsion side of the film faces the center of the roll.
When the roll is held so that the outside or leader end of
the film leaves the roll at the top toward the right,
Winding A has the small hole between the perforations
along the edge away from the observer and Winding B
has the small hole between the perforations along the
edge toward the observer.
Exposure Index - Where applicable, the exposure
index is shown for both daylight and tungsten light
exposure.
