The highly anticipated 2012 AHA (NT) harbottle on-premise <strong>Gold</strong> Plate Awards were<br />
presented last night at a gala d<strong>in</strong>ner at the Holiday Inn Esplanade Darw<strong>in</strong>.<br />
There were many highlights dur<strong>in</strong>g the night, but none as significant as the nam<strong>in</strong>g of the<br />
„Restaurant of the Year‟, which went to EVOO Restaurant at SKYCITY Darw<strong>in</strong> for achiev<strong>in</strong>g<br />
the highest overall score from the <strong>Gold</strong> Plate judges.<br />
“Last night‟s AHA (NT)‟s harbottle on-premise <strong>Gold</strong> Plate Awards were a celebration of the<br />
hard work that goes on beh<strong>in</strong>d the scenes and the outstand<strong>in</strong>g achievements of <strong>Territory</strong><br />
d<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g establishments, said Ms. Amy Williamson, CEO of the AHA (NT).<br />
“I would especially like to congratulate the 2012 „Restaurant of the Year‟, EVOO Restaurant<br />
at SKYCITY, which underwent renovations last year <strong>in</strong> order to cont<strong>in</strong>ue to provide a f<strong>in</strong>e<br />
d<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g service <strong>in</strong> a contemporary environment keep<strong>in</strong>g up with trends of restaurants located<br />
<strong>in</strong> other capital cities.”<br />
“I also applaud the many regional venues who won a <strong>Gold</strong> Plate this year, with 7 of the 15<br />
<strong>Gold</strong> <strong>Plates</strong> go<strong>in</strong>g to d<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g establishments outside of Darw<strong>in</strong>. It is fantastic to see these<br />
venues provid<strong>in</strong>g their customers with high quality d<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g experiences, despite the additional<br />
difficulty of their remoteness,” Ms. Williamson said.<br />
A <strong>Gold</strong> Plate symbolises that a d<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g establishment has achieved excellence <strong>in</strong> customer<br />
service and food. <strong>Gold</strong> Plate judges scrut<strong>in</strong>ize every aspect of their d<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g experience, with<br />
food weighed the most heavily.<br />
Over 280 people <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> hospitality <strong>in</strong>dustry attended the Awards night <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g<br />
dignitaries, Chief M<strong>in</strong>ister of the Northern <strong>Territory</strong>, Hon. Terry Mills and M<strong>in</strong>ister for<br />
Bus<strong>in</strong>ess, Hon. Peter Chandler. Master of Ceremonies for the even<strong>in</strong>g was Amy Davis from<br />
Channel N<strong>in</strong>e.<br />
