[<strong>MMTA</strong> NEWSLETTER] <strong>January</strong>/<strong>February</strong>, <strong>2012</strong> Independent Music Teachers Forum - <strong>2012</strong> MTNA National Conference March 24-28, New York, New York Suzanne Greer, Chair “Start spreading the news, I’m leaving today…” If you don’t already know, the MTNA <strong>2012</strong> Conference will be held in New York City this March! Dynamic speakers include duo-pianists Melvin Stecher and Norman Horowitz, and Benjamin Zander, conductor of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra since 1979. The latter will give the keynote address on Monday morning. “I want to be a part of it – New York, New York.” Pedagogy Saturday will include two tracks, one on Teaching Artistry, at which our very own past president, Marianne Bryan, will be presenting. You will also meet Peter Mack at the Artistry sessions (Mack will be our <strong>MMTA</strong> Convention clinician this June). See the finest teachers, Nelita True and Yoheved Kaplinsky, in action at the Master Classes. The second track is entitled: “Professional Studio Institute: Building a Successful Studio in Any Kind of Economy,” and features Lee Golloway, Beth Klingenstein, and Scott McBride Smith. “If I can make it there, I’d make it anywhere.” Join the whole Minnesota gang at the Conference Gala on Monday evening to celebrate Sue Freeman Dopp’s MTNA Foundation Fellow Award. “I want to wake up in the city that doesn’t sleep…” There will be plenty of time to sightsee and enjoy New York. At the request of past attendees, evenings are left largely unscheduled to have time to experience the greatest city in the world! This is a conference not to miss. Log in, then look for “Member Directory” under “Member Resources”. Q. Where do I find the <strong>MMTA</strong> Handbook? A. Log in, then look under “Member Resources”. Handbook pages are split between the three “Teacher Resouces…” pages. Q. Why don’t I see my information on the Find a Teacher page? A. Members must request to be listed there. To make this request - or if you have requested to be listed in the past but don’t see your information - please contact the <strong>MMTA</strong> Office. Q. How do I register online? A. Log in, the click “Register Online” at the top of the page. Select the event you’d like to register for (Exams, Piano Contest, etc.), then follow the steps provided. Other questions?
