These <strong>Hercules</strong> lip-type buffer <strong>seal</strong>s<br />
are similar to our DYR style <strong>seal</strong>s<br />
and are designed for replacement in<br />
Caterpillar cylinders. Finite Element<br />
Analysis (FEA) and performance<br />
testing on the <strong>seal</strong>s have resulted in<br />
enhanced performance. The hingedlip<br />
design reduces friction, heat, and<br />
wear under low-pressure conditions<br />
and acts as a check valve allowing<br />
back-pressure relief. This pump-back<br />
ability reduces high trapped-pressure<br />
along with the resulting stresses on<br />
the rod u-<strong>seal</strong>.<br />
