SYSTEM PERFORMANCE WITH NON-<br />

AZEOTROPIC REFRIGERANT BLENDS<br />

�� With a non-azeotropic refrigerant blend the composition of the<br />

vapour changes in the evaporator and the condenser.<br />

�� Evaporator inlet and outlet temperatures are different.<br />

�� Condenser inlet and outlet temperatures are different.<br />

�� At all other points in the system the fluid behaves as normal.<br />

�� System design path.<br />

o Select evaporator outlet (Dew point ‘A’) against the<br />

desired cold space temperature.<br />

o Condenser inlet and outlet temperatures ‘B’ & ‘C’ should<br />

be sufficient to reject heat.<br />

o Liquid enthalpy at expansion device and table 3 can be<br />

used to get evaporator inlet temperature ‘D’.<br />

o Refrigerant effect is enthalpy change ’D’ to ‘A’ as normal.<br />
