Welcome to FULLERTON The city of Fullerton has undergone a significant transformation since its founding in 1887. In its earliest years, prior to incorporation in 1904, it was a characteristic Western railroad town, and tales of saloon gunfights were shared by the first settlers. As families started to move to Fullerton, the town’s character quickly began to shift, and the spirit and culture of Fullerton that exists today began to develop. Our roots as a small, tight-knit agricultural community form the backbone of our city and are evident even to this day. Living in Fullerton has always been a source of pride for its residents. Fullerton is a unique gem in Promoting the Community Fullerton is a vibrant, thriving community composed of schools, businesses, and civic members woven together to produce the successful fabric of our city. Through a variety of programs, the Fullerton Chamber of Commerce keeps Fullerton a premier destination to live, work and play. Leadership Fullerton, a program launched this year, provides professionals the access and training to understand the components of Fullerton’s government, business community, economic climate, social uniqueness, education, public safety and health care system. This innovative program will help develop tomorrow’s leaders and continue traditions of community engagement that have made Fullerton unique among cities in our region. Orange County—at once urban and quaint, old and new, simple and varied. Fullerton has carefully balanced its history with progress, giving us the diverse city we live in today. Over the past 108 years, the landscape of Fullerton has developed and changed to fit the needs of its citizens. It is noteworthy how Fullerton has preserved its historical and natural benefits so that they may continue to be enjoyed by residents and contribute to the character of our town. Rolling hills, wilderness trails, turn of the century architecture and historic buildings still grace our city and are enjoyed on a daily basis by residents and visitors. Undoubtedly, the most remarkable asset present in our city is our citizens. The diversity of Fullerton stretches back to its inception, when the earliest settlers took on the various roles needed to move Fullerton forward. Today, we continue to be a community of educators, artists, entrepreneurs, community leaders, athletes and much more. The families and individuals who make up this great city experience an unrivaled quality of life, thanks to the contributions of all those who work to make Fullerton an outstanding place to live, both now, and in the years to come. P “Leadership Fullerton provides first-hand information on how the community functions and opportunities to dialogue with established leaders,” explained Andrew Carroll, one of the program’s first participants and Advisory Committee Member. “Participants are stimulated and challenged to become more involved in serving their city in various leadership capacities.” Chairman of the Board Gizi Clemmer remarked, “It fills the need for a civic improvement program that will serve the community by educating and motivating leaders on issues important to the future and sustainability of our city.” P For more information on Leadership Fullerton and other ways to become involved in the community, please call (714) 871-3100 or visit www.FullertonChamber.com.
