Your Eyes
Won’t Believe Your Ears.
Like all Velodyne
products, the “Deco”
Home Theater System
was designed using
Velodyne’s exclusive
“Total System Design”
philosophy. Each
component part is
selected to precisely
match all the other
elements in order to
achieve optimum
performance. Combining
“Silicon Valley” state-of-
the-art engineering, close
tolerance manufacturing,
computer testing and
extensive listening
evaluations, this system
represents the fusion
of science and the art
of speaker design.
The “Deco” Home Theater Speakers
produce accurate, high-definition
sound. Their open, balanced, natural
reproduction recreates the most complex
music recordings with extraordinary
detail. The computer designed cabinet,
advanced engineering and superior
quality components are the keys to a
true performance break-through that
will astound you. Precisely matched to
a patented, high power Class D “Energy
Recovery” subwoofer, Velodyne’s Deco
System envelops you in an incredible,
dynamic theater experience previously
unobtainable from such a small package.
The Shape of Performance —
DECO Home Theater Satellites
The shape of this cabinet has been designed utilizing
advanced computer modeling and analysis programs
to eliminate parallel surfaces and their corresponding
distortion-producing standing waves. The surface
surrounding the tweeter has been minimized to create
incredible openness and an amazing breadth and
depth of soundstage. In addition, computer engineered
bracing is molded into the structure of the cabinet,
virtually eliminating unwanted box resonance.
Each satellite uses a Ferro-fluid cooled, neodymium
magnet, 1" silk dome tweeter (.95" Piston diameter)
with an elliptical wave-guide for an open, natural
sound and excellent soundstage. To achieve a rich,
full mid-bass character and seamlessly integrate
with the specially designed subwoofer, the satellites
incorporate 4" long-throw, polypropylene-coated fiber
cones, synthetic rubber surrounds, large 14.5 oz.
magnet structures and die-cast aluminum baskets.
Velodyne’s exclusive “Self-Powered Protection Circuit” protects each of
the five identical “Deco” satellite/center channel speakers from being
damaged by power levels beyond their ratings and assures the consumer
of superior performance and durability.
The DECO Class D “ERS” Subwoofer
The compromise between size and performance has plagued speaker
designers for ages. Producing the lowest frequencies with sufficient output
required big subwoofers. The main speakers had to be relatively large as
well to deliver full, rich sound and handle high power. Systems with small
satellite speakers with separate bass modules were easy to live with, but
they sounded thin and lacked low bass. With the “Deco” Digital Subwoofer,
Velodyne has solved that dilemma.
Creating big, full sound from incredibly small packages, the “Deco”
speakers and Class D subwoofer comprise the first specifically matched
Home Theater System to incorporate Velodyne’s exclusive “Dynamic
Driver Control System” (DDCS).
Due to its diminutive size and single front firing driver design, the “Deco”
Class D sub can easily be custom installed or hidden in any room. Yet, with
its distinctive styling, you’ll want to show it off. This new sub features the
■ Deco forward firing driver
■ Inside/outside dual-layer
voice coil
■ High power Class-D digital
amplifier – over 95%
efficient with patented ERS
latest generation of Velodyne’s patented “ERS” (Energy Recovery System),
Class-D amplifier. Rated at over 95% efficiency, Velodyne’s “ERS” digital
amp used in the “Deco” Home Theater System is capable of producing
600 watts RMS and 1200 watts of “Dynamic Power”.
Complementing this powerful amplifier, Velodyne has developed a unique
driver with a Multi-Layer Kevlar reinforced, resin cone mounted in a
die-cast aluminum basket. It incorporates a unique, inside/outside twolayer
voice coil that assures linear travel and the heat dissipation needed
to handle the enormous power produced by the “ERS” Class D amps.
These design innovations in amp and speaker design allow the “Deco”
Class D subwoofer to generate room-shaking bass for Home Theater or
your favorite music in spite of its miniature size.
Velodyne’s distortion limiting “Dynamic Driver Control System” ensures
the tight, accurate, musical bass for which Velodyne is known worldwide.
“DDCS” is an active, signal-based system incorporating several exclusive,
innovative technologies from Velodyne: a “Driver Displacement System”,
a “Progressive Excursion Limiting System”, and “Optimum Linearization
Circuitry”. “DDCS” assures linear cone movement, and controls the driver’s
frequency and distortion characteristics, while protecting the driver from
being overdriven. The result is 1/6th the distortion of conventional subwoofers
three-times its size. You may not care about the technological
innovations, but you’ll never forget the experience of the Deco System
whether your tastes run to Yo Yo Ma or U2 or the most
astounding special effects in blockbuster movies.
Satellites can be omni-mounted,
key hole mounted, or placed on a stand
(omni-mounts are available from Omni-Mount Systems
and the stands are available from Sanus Systems).
