PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
On Tuesday night we officially farewelled our Year 6
students at the Graduation Ceremony. The night was
very special for all families, but particularly a few families
who are leaving MEPS after a long association over the
years. Thank you to those families for their varied and
vast contributions over many years.
Throughout the night the students performed several
songs, but perhaps of significant note was “Golden
Feelings” written especially for graduation by Mr Leonard.
Thank you Phil for sharing that with the Year 6 students.
One might say it was the world premiere for that song.
It was indeed a pleasure to present each student with
their graduation certificate. This group of Year 6 children
has been a fabulous group who have strived to show
leadership and our school values at all times.

Last week I listed class structure and thanked those
teachers who are leaving, for their contributions to the
school. Briefly I would like to now thank all the staff
involved with MEPS. It has been a very busy year and
we have achieved much, but it could not be done without
the combined efforts of all involved; both teaching and
non teaching staff. Your efforts this year have been
monumental! I wish you all a safe and happy holiday
period.
To all the children and their families; please have a very
safe and happy holiday. Children, take care when near
the roads as we want to see you all back next year. I
hope that all your Christmas wishes come true; children
and adults alike.

GRUB CLUB NEWS
Volunteers for Term 1 Roster
I would like to ask for help to start the roster off in 2012. This
will then enable me to start calling for volunteers for the roster
for Term 1. If you can help out on any of the above days it
would be greatly appreciated as the Canteen cannot operate
without the help of volunteers. Please phone the school or my
mobile if you are able to help. Thanking you.
Graduation Helpers in the Canteen
Thank you to the following Grade 5 Parents who kindly assisted
in the Canteen for the Graduation on Tuesday night:-

Lesley Tennant (Liam 5W), Marie McIntyre (Laura 5W), Elke
Carter (Joshua 5D), Natalie Riddle (Tia 5W), Pia Carter (Angus
Cameron 5W) and Jo Gilbert (Max 5W).
I would also like to say thank you to everyone who has assisted
in helping me with the day to day running of our very busy
Canteen. Without your help we would not be able to offer the
Canteen service to our school. Have a very Merry Christmas
everyone and hope to see you all again in 2012. To the families
who are leaving the school this year, thank you for your support
over the last 4 years. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
The Canteen will be open for business in 2012 on the first day
of Term 1, 2012.

SAKG Program
STEPHANIE ALEXANDER KITCHEN GARDEN PROGRAM
It’s the end of another fabulous year and the SAKG
program at Mt Eliza Primary School has concluded with
great success!
This year over 180 Grade 3 and 4 students took part in
the program. They gained valuable skills in growing food,
caring for the garden, harvesting produce, preparing
ingredients, creating recipes, expanding their culinary
palate and sharing their meal with their classmates. All of
the students have grown in knowledge and confidence
and have found many successes through the program.
The SAKG Committee and Grade 3/4 teachers would like
to thank all of the amazing volunteers for their hard work
and dedication throughout the year. We appreciate the
time you spend with our children to ensure they not only
gain important skills in the garden and kitchen but also
have lots of fun!

Prepayment accounts in credit in
December, 2011
In regards to the statements sent out this week, an
account with a negative balance indicates that you have
money held in credit.
Credits in existing accounts will be rolled over to the 2012
year. Moneys left in accounts for Grade 6 children (2011)
will be credited to younger siblings still attending the
school.
For families leaving MEPS this year, a cheque will be
posted out in the new year for any prepayments that are
still left in the account. Please ensure your address
details are up-to-date.

Health and Wellbeing Day
On Thursday, 1 st December the Grade Three and Four students participated in a Health and
Wellbeing Day where they rotated around to six different activities.
The six activities were:
� Yoga - students learnt to stretch and exercise their bodies safely. Thank you to Rachele
Miller the Yoga Instructor.
� Fitness – students learnt about their heart rates and how to measure their pulse. Thankyou
Mr McMahon and Mrs Mountford.
� Healthy choices – Dietitian Justine Thomas discussed and taught students responsible use
of legal drugs, the dangers of illegal drugs, food additives and preservatives and making
healthy choices with food and drinks.
� Meditation – Mrs Down taught students how to meditate and calm their minds.
� Anti-smoking - Mr Powell discussed the dangers and health risks of smoking.
� Music and dance - Mrs Chester and Mrs Shelton taught students the importance and
effects that music and dance can have in our lives.
Thank you to all of the teachers and helpers who assisted on the day. The students learnt a lot
of interesting and valuable information by participating in these activities.
