MagnaFlite is the lightest starter on the market. Weighting in at 60% less than conventional starters, our
Lycoming models are the easiest to install with no modifications required. An FAA/PMA approved unit,
MagnaFlite carries the same installation eligibility as Electrosystems’ OE Prestolite-style starters. The
MagnaFlite starter is user friendly in many ways. No STC approvals or 337 forms are needed for installation.
The MagnaFlite fits all original Prestolite configurations, using identical airframe baffle and component
attachment points. It meets all requirements for voltage, gear reduction, direct drive, and counter
rotation. MagnaFlite, the most powerful starter available, provides 65% greater horsepower than conventional starters, resulting in higher
cranking speeds, and faster start times. In addition, it is designed to last the TBO of the engine and provides optimum reliability and cranking
power throughout its service life. MagnaFlite is designed specifically for aviation, using only the highest quality certified parts. MagnaFlite is also

LAMAR STARTERS (NEW)
Lamar Permanent Magnet Starters represent the next generation in starter technology, setting new standards
in performance and reliability. These new lightweight starters deliver exceptional torque to start virtually
any general aviation piston engine in nearly any environment, yet weigh about 40 percent less than
conventional starters. The key is Presicion’s patented permanent magnet motor design. It replaces the
bulky windings of a conventional starter motor with lightweight permanent magnets. This revolutionary
design not only eliminates considerable weight, but results in more efficient starter operation and improved
performance under all conditions. During extensive performance testing, Lamar starters consistently provided quicker engine starts than conventional
starters under a variety of operating conditions. These TBO starters are built to go the distance between engine overhauls.
Conventional starters generally don’t last. They usually have to be pulled off for repair or replacement at least once during the life of the engine.

In addition to the factory new Lamar starters listed above, Aircraft Spruce also
stocks overhauled Lamar starters. The PM1201 starter is ideal for the Lycoming
O-320 & O-360 series engines and the PM2401 is applicable to the Lycoming O-
540 series engines. Like the new Lamar starters, these overhauled starters are
FAA/PMA approved, fully bench tested, provide superior cold weather performance,
utilize a patented permanent magnet design, use a planetary gear reduction
for optimum speed and torque (110 RPM), and draw less amperage than
lightweights to help lengthen battery life.
