This perpetuates the dependency syndrome-
relying on others to come and develop Liberia
instead of Liberians taking lead initiative.
Participants were supportive of the establishment
of a Land Commission, believing that such a body

will help settle land disputes. They recommended
that its members be persons of integrity and trust,
representing Liberians from the counties and not
just Monrovia. The Land Commission should prioritize
land policies that correct the biases against
women. When established, the Land Commission
should form alliances with women advocacy
groups, civil society organizations, interest groups
such as female lawyers/associations, external affiliates
and international organizations, and other
stakeholders to enhance the process.
While the citizenship issue is important and relates
to promoting investment and development,
people need to be adequately informed on reasons
that prompted the making of these laws in the formative
years of the state.
