Preface
Welcome to the 18 th International Meeting of the ALPE ADRIA CARDIOLOGY ASSO-
CIATION, which will take place for the second time in Vienna, Austria. The topics chosen
for this meeting are across cardiology but concentrate on new developments in the
past year and are, therefore, of high importance and interest. This is also expressed in
the subtitle of the meeting "New Developments in Cardiology".
It is the intention of the organizers to make this meeting a special event not only for experienced
cardiologists but also and especially for young researchers from the ALPE
ADRIA nations, clinical and basic researchers alike.
All presenters of posters and all speakers and/or chairs will have free access to the meeting.
We are glad to report that 115 abstracts have been accepted by an international and
independent review committee. Part of these best rated abstracts has been accepted for
oral presentation, but the majority of abstracts will be presented during moderated poster
sessions.
For non-Austrian poster presenters, whose abstracts have been evaluated within the upper
20 % of quality, a travel and hotel refund of 300 € will be given. Moreover, the three
best rated abstracts will receive a certificate and be awarded with 1000, 500 and 300
€, respectively.
During the meeting we shall offer special training courses for poster and slide presentation
as well as for the writing of scientific manuscripts.
We hope that these innovations compared to the prior ALPE ADRIA Cardiology meetings
will be accepted, stimulate the participation of young scientists, and guarantee a well
visited and interesting congress full of information and discussion.
In the name of my co-organizers I would also like to thank the members of the scientific
board for their excellent and active cooperation, which made this meeting possible
and will contribute to the success of the 18 th International Meeting of the ALPE ADRIA
Association of Cardiology.
