Quality Assurance Impact and Performance of QEC The role of Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) is to assist the university in improving research and teaching by continuous enhancement of academic standards under HEC guidelines. QEC is involved in activities related to curriculum development, teaching and research quality, admission policies, examination policies and process control, in general. Specific activities of QEC are as follows: The Quality Enhancement Cell provides support to various teaching departments in preparations for accreditation visits by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). Support involves the following: >Preparation and review of PEC AC-1 Form submitted by each department to PEC. >Training of faculty members and staff of departments for PEC visits . >Conducting mock PEC visits of departments before PEC visits. The Quality Enhancement Cell is involved in the implementation of Self >Assistance to departments in taking actions to address the recommendations of PEC. Assessment Process in the university as per HEC requirement. Program Teams and Assessment Teams are formed by QEC after seeking nominations from the respective departments. The role of Program Teams is to prepare Self Assessment Reports which contain detailed information about the programs in terms of faculty members, students, laboratories, libraries and other facilities. Assessment Teams then assess the programs in the light of Self Assessment Reports through visits to respective programs. Implementation Plans are then generated that contain recommendations, if any, to improve the quality of The QEC is also involved in the affiliation of institutions with the university. Academic Section of the university, in working with QEC, has streamlined the affiliation process. Forms AF-1 and AF-2 have been developed for periodic review of affiliated programs. These forms cover aspects related to quality of academic programs and are similar to Forms AC-1 and AC-2 that are used by PEC for the accreditation of academic programs. Use of Forms AF-1 and AF-2 has greatly improved the review of affiliated programs. programs.
